A: I just purchased a new Dell laptop without a DVD /CD drive and is why I purchased this device. I can watch movies, burn on to the disc and anything on your disc can be transferred to your computer. The only downfall is it cannot play Blu-Ray DVD's only DVD's, other than that it's very compact and user friendly and it just plugs into your USB drive and your ready to go

DVD Drive - so easy to use
This is a great little drive at a very good price. I bought this to use with a new HP Laptop I just bought that did not have an internal drive. I got a real laugh when I opened the installation drive. It was a picture of plugging in the the drive. Love it! Would definitely buy this again.

Plug and play out of the box
Bought this external DVD-CD Player for my new Dell desktop computer. Most new computers don't have these optical drives built in anymore as most people stream. Good price when on sale. Works well. Just plugged it into the computer with the USB cord that came with it and it played CDs. So no installation except to plug it into the computer USB port. It's solid. Lightweight, 7 ounces. It can also burn CDs and DVDs, but I probably won't have to do that. The only problem was getting the protective film peeled off the new device. Finally, I put a piece of Scotch tape on the film and it loosened it and lifted it up. It was a bit of a hassle to get my local Best Buy store to price match Amazon. I had to go through two cashiers and then a manager. And to find the product in the store I had to ask three associates. The device is a bit noisy. Appearance is nice. Four stars because I haven't burned any CDs or DVDs.
