Stellar Gray? More like Stellar Laptop

A thin and light laptop I needed for my work. I bought an laptop earlier from BestBuy but it only had 16BG of memory and I needed more to run the programs I needed for work and this fit the bill. It's easy to travel with and not to mention the eyes it catches with its beautiful art piece on the back of the laptop to start conversations.

        Loving it!

It’s such an amazing and luxurious machine! Some complaints about the keyboard, but in my opinion is perfectly O.K I think it would lose sophistication with a different key board.

        Beautiful & Blazing fast!

I am so happy with this purchase. I was lucky enough to see an ad for this laptop when it was still $1,299 and, boy, am I glad I pulled the trigger on this one, especially since the price has since risen to $1,999. I was specifically looking for a thin and light laptop with decent RAM capacity and, more specifically, LPDDR5X. The Low Power Double Data Rate memory is soldered directly on the board, very close to the processor, so it's blazing fast, and this thing has 32GB, which is more than enough for most people, even for gaming. When I researched LPDDR5X and discovered that the max transfer speed was 8533MT/s, I assumed that was just a theoretical upper limit. But Windows Task manager and the Performance tab reflect that, and I ran AIDA64 benchmarks immediately after receiving it, and it's quite fast, with a sustained read speed of 87808 MB/s and latency of 95.3 ns. AIDA64 GPGPU Benchmark showed single-precision FLOPS of 3974 and memory copy of 70.8 GB/s. These aren't anywhere near discreet GPU numbers in a desktop gaming rig, but it's pretty darned good for a shared-memory iGPU. I decided to try some light gaming, and installed Steam and Final Fantasy XIV. I was absolutely flabbergasted when it ran the game perfectly with most settings maxed out. If you do plan on gaming with this laptop, keep in mind that, as a thin and light laptop with an integrated GPU it's not meant to run AAA games. That being said, it does have 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, so you could (and plenty of people have) run it with an external GPU to get something approximating a desktop gaming experience. Speaking of I/O, I'm totally satisfied with what is included; 2 Thunderbolt ports, HDMI, only a single USB-A slot, a Micro SD card reader (which I will get plenty of use out of, transferring print files to a Bambu 3D printer), and, of course, WiFi and Bluetooth. The OLED screen has some of the richest color and deepest blacks I have seen in a laptop, but the screen is very glossy and tends to throw off a lot of glare in dark conditions or subdued ambient light. If you're watching YouTube or streaming in a dark room, you'll definitely see yourself reflected on screen. The battery is great, too. I had heard in a video somewhere that they estimated it could continuously display video for up to 23 hours on a single charge, depending on the power management settings. And let's talk about this lid. Wow. Each one is handcrafted by Japanese lacquerware artisans with a version of Hokusai's Great Wave Off Kanagawa, which anyone who is familiar with Japanese art or, more specifically, woodblock prints, will immediately recognize. It is absolutely beautiful, but it is also a fingerprint magnet, and they REALLY show up, so be prepared to constantly buff the lid with the microfiber cloth sandwiched between the keyboard and the screen. Everything about this laptop is a work of art. The box is beautiful, too, and opens in such a way that it tilts the back of the laptop up out of the box to make it very easy to remove carefully. It includes a pretty little mouse with similar lacquerware artistry, but I'm not sure if it's actual lacquerware; I left it in the box, along with the cool badge holder and the extended mousepad/deskpad with matching art. The bundled laptop sleeve is nothing fancy. It has a nice soft, velvety texture to it, but ZERO padding, so it's not something I will be using regularly. Instead, I will probably opt for one of the Thule hard-shell cases. I feel like this is one of those rare instances where an electronic device will continue to retain some value after purchase. Each one is numbered, but I'm not sure what the production runs are all about. Mine is numbered XXX/700 A, so perhaps there are several production runs (A, B, C, etc.), each 700, because I can't imagine they will only ever make 700 of these. MSI's own website mentions that it comes with "up to Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 processor(Series 2)", but I have only seen this version. That being said, I can't imagine there would be a noticeable difference in performance between the two specs. This thing is a work of art, inside and out, and I can't imagine anyone being unhappy after purchasing one. If you're in the market for a thin and light laptop, and your budget is flexible enough, go for it. This is probably the absolute best electronic device purchase I have ever made.
