Christopher Guest's folk music comedy A Mighty Wind comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. English and French soundtracks are available. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. The excellent supplemental materials are headed by a commentary track recorded by Guest and his co-star and co-scenarist Eugene Levy. They are full of praise for their large and talented cast and they discuss in detail how different people worked hard to learn to play the instruments their characters play in the film. As with the DVDs of Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show, a wealth of deleted scenes have been included, all with optional commentary. Many of these are very funny in their own right, but one can still see why they failed to make the final cut. Vintage TV appearances by the bands, and the entire television broadcast of the climactic concert can be viewed, all with optional commentary. This is an outstanding disc from Warner Bros.

Let's face it. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer are geniuses. You can't go wrong buying any one of the half dozen or so movies they've made together along with their cast of supporting players like Eugene Levy.
