Induction cooktops vs. electric and gas stovetops
Electric cooktop technology has improved greatly since the simple coil electric stovetop . While you can still find electric stoves with coil burners, you can also find advanced electric stovetop styles, like smooth electric cooktops with a bridge element connecting multiple burners, cooktops with a warmer function, and electric induction cooktops . Induction cooking uses an electromagnetic current to heat the pots and pans on your stovetop without actually heating the burners. Must cookware will work with induction, but you will have to avoid copper, aluminum and glass. Induction creates very precise temperatures and fast heat up times. It also means you stovetop will cool down quickly when you remove your pot or pan because the burner has not been generating its own heat. An induction cooktop can even mean for cooler kitchen temperatures. Finally, gas remains a favorite cooktop for many cooks. Its ability to quickly heat up and cool off is beneficial for some dishes, and many cooks are simply used to cooking with gas. To have a gas stovetop , however, you will need to have a gas line in your kitchen, and some newer buildings only have hookups for an electric stovetop.
Choosing the right cooktop or range top for you
Start narrowing down your cooktop options by size and fuel. When it comes to size, always measure thoroughly to ensure you know all the relevant dimensions. In terms of fuel, if you are deciding between gas or electric burners , consider the hookup options in your kitchen. If you have multiple options, you can weigh the pros and cons of each type. With a standalone cooktop, you will also need a wall oven for any baked or roasted dishes. One of the benefits of separating your cooktop from your oven is that you can more easily use two different fuel types if you want. Rather than choosing between an electric stove or a gas range , you can have both a gas cooktop and electric wall oven . Separating the appliances also spreads out the foot traffic and heavy usage areas of your kitchen. If you are not confident installing your new appliance yourself, set up an appointment with Best Buy’s professional appliance delivery and installation team. If you need to get rid of your old kitchen cooktop, you can also add an appliance haul away and recycling service. Before you know it, you’ll be enjoying the first meal from your shiny new cooktop.
