The stunningly elegant Acer Chromebook 315, with its 15.6” screen, is the ideal replacement for a desktop. The large screen and upward facing speakers also make it perfect for watching videos and video conferencing.
Q: What is the year of manufacture?
A: Response to rip2451. Manufacture date on back of Acer Chromebook is March 31, 2021. I bought it from BestBuy online as a "recertified" item. PLEASE NOTE the was no power cord with this Chromebook. Although I am satisfied with ACER CHromebook as a refurbished item, it is NG w/out a powercord! It is not worth buying it used if you have to pay for the cord at BEST BUY (sold in BB stores btwn $49-$69) bringing the cost up to a new chromebook! The ACER works great & I was able to give it an initial charge using a borrowed cord. And, the charge lasted well over the 12 hours of use so I was happy with that. However, I fully expected that BB would provide me w/a power cord as was shown w/one online when I purchased it. Silly me. I went back to the BEST BUY store thinking this would be simple. However, the BEST BUY return rep at the store explained that I would need to contact BEST BUY online in order to get the power cord that was supposed to come w/the chromebook since the store is separate from the online store. Fair enough. However, calling the call center was a waste of time. The online BB rep told me straight up that they will not be able to provide a power cord despite my having a screen shot of the laptop w/powercord that was shown when I made this purchase. No matter...I was told that not all refurbished products come with all the essential items such as a power cord. Doesn't "refurbished" mean its good to go? Apparently not. And, imagine all this back & forth for such a simple solution! The only thing the BB rep could do was an offer of a $25 credit --contingent upon authorization and requirement from me to purchase the cord from at the full retail price at BB or at a minimum price of an additional $50, & then maybe down the line I might see a $25 credit. BYE BYE BEST BUY! ...I purchased a power cord on line for about $17 & got it delivered before I even needed to recharge my Chromebook! So, my recommendation by the ACER Chromebook but shop around at Staples or an online store...anywhere other than BEST BUY!
A: Yes, this Chromebook has a front-facing camera, so that must be a typo. Here is a link to the specifications showing this: https://www.acer.com/datasheets/2019/4876/CB315-3H/NX.HKBAA.002.html
A: We recommend you check with the game vendors to see if they offer a version for Chromebooks which run the Chrome operating system and uses apps. If there is no such app available, a Windows laptop would likely suit you better.
Q: What does "refurbished" means with regards to a Chromebook?
A: Recertified indicates a previously-purchased item returned to the manufacturer. It is inspected and if needed, repairs the item before reselling, usually at a significant discount. There could be a number of reasons it was recertified-some are demo units, review units or customer returns. Unfortunately there is no way to determine why a particular model was recertified.
A: Probably not. The graphics quality are not great. It is a very basic laptop which is perfect for a student using it for remote learning and Zoom.
Q: Can you use a wireless mouse with this
A: Yes you can.
Q: Is this device compatible with Apple apps or does it have similar features
A: This Chromebook supports Google Play Store and Chrome Web Store. It takes third party apps to run Apple apps on Chromebooks; here is a link you might find helpful: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-run-windows-or-mac-apps-from-your-chromebook/
