We couldn't get the board to initialize. Thought it was broke - took it back - got another and had the same problem, The package needs a warning or explain that you need 4 feet of unobstucted all around the board. Sensor bar needs to be on the floor. Definitly not worth the money.

Some calibration issues, but very fun and cool.

Yes, it took about ten times to get it to calibrate, and moving the deck/controler closer and further from the receiver, and an inch side to side, until surprisingly it said your done and the calibration went through. The good news is once it's calibrated you don't have to recalibrate unless you change batteries or use a new controler. Immediately after calibrating your playing, with great graffics, music and tricks. My kids and I love this game, the celebrities in the game are a cool plus, with great tutorials, and the challenges seem endless.

Son crying on his birthday

For once I failed to read the reviews on a product before buying it. If I had done so I would have saved my son from crying on his birthday. The only present he wanted was this game, that was it, one present.
In a nutshell; its the worst product known to man. We could never get the board to connect to the Wii. In theory it sounds like a wonderful concept. But after searching the internet for every hint, suggestion, possible clues that can turn this event around. It was a flat out bust. If Tony Hawk himself walked in to the room we probably would all have screamed at the sound of his voice. "I'm sorry, there must have been a problem connecting" over and over and over again.
All of the stories about calling customer service made us make a quick decision to just return it and move on.
Kudos to those who figured it out, maybe we'll come over to play someday.

After many, many attempts, we were not able to sync the board to our Wii. We heard from others that they had this problem as well. Until this is fixed, do not consider buying this. I was also concerned that if it ever did sync, how well would it read your movements when playing the game. Looks fun. I will never know.

Fun but limited

First, I want to address the statement by the first reviewer about space requirements. The 4 foot radius is a recommendation but not a requirement in most circumstances. We have 6 feet between the front of our couch and the TV stand. So, when the board is in use it is 1 foot away from the couch and 3 feet from the TV. On the sides we move our 2 ottomans far enough apart to move on the board but neither of them are more than 3 feet away. With this set up we have had zero problems with board response or accuracy. As far as the board controller I think it is an awesome piece of technology.
As far as gameplay, I find it too narrow in what it allows you to do. I was hoping for more free play but it is very much about controlled situations to do different tricks. We don't play it as often as I expected because we get bored since we can't do what we're in the mood to do.

We had bought this item as a Christmas present for my children, ages 10, 7, and 5. Needless to say, I am unable to write a review about anything other than the fact it would not calibrate to our wii console. We tried everything that everyone suggested on all websites, and everything listed on the troubleshooting website for the actual game. After HOURS of not being able to calibrate it, we gave up. We exchanged it for another Tony Hawk wii board, and still the same problems. After reading other reviews and so many people having the same problems, we just returned it. The kids were very disappointed in the fact they never even got to try it, and they were so looking forward to it. I would NOT recommend buying this product to anyone!

Don't waste your time & money on this. The last product from Tony Hawk was really bad and this is just a prettier version. The game would be great if you could calibrate it BUT most likely you won't be able to. It says it takes an 8 foot clear radius plus distance from TV plus it doesn't like light plus on and on and on!!! Online you can only find a few people out of thousands you were able to calibrate the skateboard to the game.
The main problem; since this is considered a game, most likely you won't be able to do anything other than exchange it over and over and over again. Luckily, a manager took pity on us but not at full price. Not Best Buys fault at all!! They are just following their rules so no big deal on their part.

I'm sure the game would be awesome but due to a design flaw or other issue we were unable to get the dek to calibrate even though we cleared a 13x19 room of everything. After 2hrs trying and researching on the web for a fix I found many others had the same exact issue. We are returning this game.
