Great for young ones but I wound up returning it
Awesome parental control. Good build quality and an unfortunate software issue when the little ones fill up the memory but none of that was an issue for us because we, as parents were always aware of how our 7yo son was using it. But, ultimately it was the lack of content that caused us to return it. This would have been absolutely perfect for him when he was 4 or 5 years old but now, even with the Amazon content there was very little for him to look forward to. Sure there were plenty of books but we also read real books and most of the characters and apps that he was familiar with were "used up" in the first week. Add that to the fact that none of the fun, forward thinking apps were available (like Lego movie maker for instance) or looked as though they would be anytime soon. I'd say this is perfect for younger kids but compares not at all to a real iPad or android tablet with restrictions on them.

Adequate, but not outstanding
It's good enough, but not as good as it could be. Cons - the processor seems underpowered, causing occasional, though not frequent lag. - Slightly under half the storage space is used right out of the box - Interface is not intuitive when it comes to adding new books and apps for you child. Pros: -Comes with lots of children's books, and apps. -Solid warrantee. -1 year of Amazon Free Time Unlimited. -It can be used as normal Fire for the parents. Just make sure your kids don't know your passcode. -Good parental controls (Though not necessarily intuitive) It's good enough, but I think we would have been better off buying a normal Fire, and purchasing a protective skin for it.

Good tablet for 8 year old
Pros: Durable, long battery life, charges decently fast, easy to use. All apps work without being connected to wi-fi. Cons: 8gb memory could be an issue if not monitored. Great low price tablet for child
