A lot of people don't realize that while voltage spikes can be troublesome, under voltage (brownouts) can cause just as much if not more damage to your equipment. For a reasonable price, this unit does a really good job. Your equipment should really be protected BOTH ways!

Lost my amateur radio and interface due to a power surge through an older surge protector. This is a definite up grade with widely placed receptacles that allows more equipment to be protected with one unit.

This surge protector is easy to use. It was bought for our granddaughter to use in her college dorm. Works great.

I purchased this for my second computer, an HP Pavilion 300. The power saver does not work as the computer draws so little power it is not noticeable, but the surge protector does. We live in an area of frequent thunderstorms, and recently one took out our phones but did not affect the computer.

I've been using this for a month and it seems to work. My cable box is in the Always on outlet, my TV is in the Master outlet, and my DVD player is in the Slave outlet controlled by the master. When I turn my TV off the DVD player shuts completely off to save power. However, I don't know how much power and money I'm saving. I like the look and feel of the APC P8GT because it is wider than most protectors with plenty of room for plugs.
I wish it had an On/Off switch when I want to turn off all the devices plugged in. Also, sometimes when I turn my TV on or off there seems to be a power surge because all the lights on my DVD player turn on brightly temporarily. This is worrisome because the APC device is supposed to prevent surges, not create them.

I wanted something that would protect my electronics without too many bells and whistles and this one fits the bill.
A:AnswerOkay, I had to check it, but I am here to report that the plug for MY APC 8 Outlet, Power Saving, Surge Protector "Strip" IS a "low-profile" plug that has a cord that comes out on the down-side of a grounded outlet: the grounding "pin" is on the bottom/cord side of the plug. - I hope this helps ALL of y'all shoppers who are wondering whether or not this anti-surge power strip can be plugged in behind your computer desk, or entertainment system cabinet/rack, etc.
A:AnswerAjay, et al, My experience with ALL of the APC power handling equipment I've ever owned, tells me that this "strip" will certainly NOT add to any electric line interference that manifests itself in "noise" being output by a PA system (depending on, of course, the electrical power supply its plugged into and other environmental factors that might effect wireless transmissions (microphones, etc.) feeding into a PA amplifier).
ALL APC power strips are "wired" with low-resistance, large-gauge wires that provide far better power/signal flow than ANY generic ("el-cheap-o") power strip you might find at the local hardware store or grocery market. - I have one of these strips handling ALL the power for my whole home theater system (and another one for my 12 TB computer system), but it IS in a house that was built less than 20 years ago: The house wiring is ALL heavy-gauge copper, etc., etc., etc.
