A: yes it is. they do not make it easy to figure out, once I got it, I looked up the model number and it was a 1st gen. Best Buy should disclose that.

A: Depends on what your buying and how u buy it, I purchased this iPad as an open box item which was discounted and cannot be combined with another discount like the student discount in order for u to get that u would have to buy one at full price then your student discount would be applied.
