Very good, high speed, and easy setup
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these to use with my Asus router and set up a mesh network. We have a 1929 two-story home, and the 1 router wasn't enough to cover the whole house. I set one of these upstairs in the hallway and one downstairs in the back bedroom, while the main router is in the living room in the front of the house. We have several kids and lots of devices, and these handle all of it. We aven have fast wifi in the back yard. And set up is quite easy using the Asus app. Only difficulty was deciding on best place for upstairs unit. Took a little trial and error, but I got it figured out.

Great coverage, easy set-up.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great purchase for our three floor 1800 sq ft. townhome. We were able to place the router in the basement and the second node in the upstairs, covering all three floors very well. Set up was relatively easy, even for a newbie like me. Very consistent Wi-Fi coverage with very few dropouts.

Large units & packed with features
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ultimately there were just too many options on this to make it feasible for me to keep and use. The build quality and features are impeccable if you desire the ability to do a lot of tweaking and calibration. I was able to cover all 3 floors of our house with just a single one of the units. Our house is around 2100sf total, so that's some pretty decent coverage. I think if you have a larger home you'd really get full use from this system. Ultimately I returned it and opted for the Wifi 6 version since I had 3 devices that could take full advantage of the WiFi 6 feature set.

Best router I have owned so far.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best router I have owned. Replaced three mesh routers with two of these. One in the main house with a wired backhaul inside steel workshop 30 feet away. Two of these cover an acer lot inside and out. I have a smarthome with over 55 devices connected to Wi-Fi (not including 75 Zwave devices connected through a smart hub) and utilize at least three streaming devices at a time, speed has never been an issue. I’ve rebooted it maybe twice in three months. Can use Alexa to reboot the router or check for firmware updates. App has greatly improved from first gen Lyra.

Solid Router with Foolproof Setup Process
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two things about this router, first one is its foolproof setup. I plugged them in, set one on my desk, the main router in its place. The thing is I didn't quite get the power fully connected, it was loose. The power came off partway through the setup. The unit needed to restart. I thought I'd need to reset to factory and begin again. Much to my pleasant surprise, the setup program just waited for it to return and finished without errors. Remarkable. The second one is the range and strength of the signal. We have full strength signals throughout our house. Our home is an elongated U shape, 95 feet front to back. Every corner has solid connectivity now. Highly recommended if you have dead spots or difficulty getting through multiple walls to achieve whole-house connectivity. These two should handle all but the very largest home.

ASUS Zen WiFi solved my problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using a Wifi extender and getting annoyed having to switch between networks and not being able to use certain things in different rooms because they were on different networks. The ASUS Zen Wifi has solved my problems. It is extremely easy to set up and now everything is on the same network. I have no buffering problems using it to stream. Excellent product.

A host of issues in one day alone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I setup the router and satellite as the default AiMesh configuration. Single SSID for 2.4G and 5G bands. This was the default firmware. Issue 1. My clients would only connect to the 2.4G band. Never the 5G band no matter how close I was. So I factory reset and redid the configuration, but this time, I used separate SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G bands. Issue 2. Clients could only connect to the 2.4G SSID, not the 5G SSID. Maybe a defective unit. Then I updated the firmware using the ASUS Android app. Halfway thru the firmware installation, the app stated an error occurred, and app did not complete installation. Factory reset to start clean again. And now, the satellite would connect to router momentarily during setup, then disconnect. App shows only one node in system after setup was complete. Did several rounds of factory reset and configuration. I could have exchanged it, but it was just easier to go with another brand. This was a disappointment. My new mesh system is not as fast, but it works as expected.

Q: QuestionCan an additional satellite be added?
Asked by MissingLink.
- A:Answer Yes, but they are not cheap. I thought I might need a third device, but after installing the pair, I have found a third to be uneccessary. I have a two floor house with 2200 sq ft on one floor and 1800 sq ft on the other, so they do cover quite a bit of area.

Q: QuestionMay I create/modify the SSID on the new Asus mesh routers to match the SSID on the router I am replacing to avoid reprograming all my devices
Asked by Chip.
- A:Answer Yes, the additional SSID must be added.. If you only add the additional SSID to the router, but not to the mesh points, your client devices will only be able to connect to that Wi-Fi network when they are in range of the router.

Q: QuestionWill this device work with Comcast/Xfinity? It's not on their approved list, however I see references to using it with Xfinity and I know of other devices that aren't "approved", that work fine.

Q: Questioncan I attach an external hard drive to one (or more) of the USB ports, to function as an NAS device?
Asked by Returned.
- A:Answer Yes, this is pretty standard with Asus routers. You can definitely do it with main router, but would expect not with the satellite node. However, my understanding is that performance is pretty weak as a NAS with Zen AC, so don't expect this perform like a Netgear readyNAS (review from here noted pretty middling performance https://dongknows.com/asus-zenwifi-ac-ct8-aimesh-system-review/).

Q: QuestionIs this equivalent to having WiFi internet from infinity or Verizon internet
Asked by Deltabigred.
- A:Answer You still need an internet provider. This improves your connectivity throughout your home and eliminates the need to use a WiFi extender.

Q: QuestionIs this ZenWiFI AC WiFi 6
Asked by Bair.
- A:Answer No, I purchased the ct8, which is for WiFi 5. I don’t have access to gigabit, or even 100 mbps service. I have a 25 mbps microwave provider. This equipment permits me to make the most of it.
