    does the job...barely

Let's start by saying a couple of things: 1) I don't blame Best Buy at all for anything I'm about to say as I saw this specific media storage solution at several places but Best Buy had the best price, 2) this is a cheap, particle board, full assembly required piece of furniture so the bar and my expectations were set pretty low to begin with. I thought I knew what I was getting myself into as I've assembled many of these types of things in the past. This one is the lowest quality and poorest design I've ever encountered. The assembly isn't too bad. I was done in about 45 minutes and nothing was particularly difficult, just frustrating. Some of the cam pieces were machined so poorly that I could not get them to get very tight. Also, the back piece is the sturdiest I've ever seen but putting on the top/back piece is insanely frustrating as it has 2 folds and is the largest. The design lacks a lot. Basically you build the top half, then the bottom half, then join them. The 2 halves are joined merely by some dowels and cams. This thing is over 5 feet tall so this doesn't make for a very stable feeling result. Remember those poorly machined cams I mentioned? Well add to the situation the fact that I couldn't get a few of them very tight and, needless to say, I would never try to lift this thing by the top half. Some of the shelfs just slide in with nothing to secure them meaning that when leaned, lifted, etc they are prone to fall out. They will also push out of leaned against a wall. The pieces are all too thin and the overall design is not deep enough. I looked before I purchased and saw that it is only 7+ inches deep, but I didn't realize how bad that would be in the end. Beyond a doubt, you HAVE to secure this to something. Does it hold my video game collection allowing me more room for future collecting? Sure. I probably wouldn't even be too upset over it if the thing was half the price I paid for it at the time (I paid $80). Unfortunately there aren't a lot of media storage options out there and this was the best price I found. In the future I will be purchasing wood, hardware, and paint and spending a Saturday afternoon building something of WAY higher quality for probably a similar price.

Great case if you need large capacity on a budget.

This unit is not the greatest thing ever, but it is not horrible. I paid $79 out the door (I used a coupon). This thing almost holds my entire collection, I have about 500 DVD/Blu-ray movies. Assembly took about 45 minutes. I actually like the fact the movies hang off the shelf. It makes it easier to pull them off compared to other units I have owned. It seemed sturdy enough after putting it together. For those complaining about how sturdy it is, I don't know what you expect for $80. You would need to get into the $200-$300 range before you would be able to purchase anything made of solid wood. And it still would not have the capacity of this unit. As long as you make sure to follow the instructions, and make sure everything is lined up perfectly, then it will hold everything just fine. I don't see this lasting through a move, unless you move it separatelty. Keep that in mind when you purchase. For $80 it was an awesome deal, and I am very happy with the price, capacity, and appearance. Could it be sturdier...yes. However, is it were sturdier it definitely would have been much more expensive.

Total Junk--No Customer Service to Help

So, I purchased this thing just as I was moving. It sat in the box for a solid month (maybe more) simply because I didn't have time to put it together. I started putting it together, and pieces were incorrectly cut. So, after attempting to get ahold of the company to have them fix them problem, I gave up (three phone calls, a week of them not being returned, e-mail, Facebook messages, Twitter messages, every possible way to get ahold of a company barring snail-mail). So, I went and cut down the incorrectly cut boards (there were 2 of them total). Then I really got down to putting it together and found that the holes were not drilled correctly. Literally the top and bottom of the unit are held together by 2 pins since the rest of the holes holding the unit together are messed up (not to mention that several of the boards are held together by nothing more than a small screw). This unit is total junk, which has been taken out to the fire pit because I don't feel safe using it. Total waste of money. I gave this unit 1 star simply because 0 or less is not allowable. I would never recommend this unit or the Atlantic company to my worst enemy. No one should ever spend $80 on something with such shoddy craftsmanship and no customer service to speak of. Terrible, horrible experience. Save yourself the headache and do not buy this.

This can work if you have some woodworking skills.

Well there weren't very many options for a cabinet that holds 400+ DVDs for under $150. There were some other, more expensive cabinets that I preferred which had better customer ratings, but all of them were online only. And for reasons unknown, none of these could be shipped to a best buy location. The only option is to have it shipped to your home and pay 40-60 dollars for shipping. That defeats the purpose for me so I settled on this Atlantic Elitel, despite the bad reviews. Assembly took about an hour and some parts of it required 2 people. Putting this together went better than I expected. There was only one holdup about halfway through the process: 2 screw holes were not drilled correctly. The screws could not be tightened, so I redrilled the holes and used some longer screws. I also damaged a screw hole myself just from lifting this thing against the wall. Very cheap product. Finally, with this thing fully assembled, it can still be flimsy, so you must be very careful with it. And you should definitely use the wall anchor kit, because if this thing fell over, you would have several holes to redrill at the least.

For the price, it isn't a bad unit. Looks nice, holds plenty of media. Two issues that knocked it down a bit for me. First the base isn't very wide, so there isn't a lot of stability. Luckily I don't have kids or pets so I didn't need to use the anti tip bracket they want you to drill into your wall. If you're going to be using this on thick carpet, you may want to install that bracket. Mine is on hardwood, so it's not bad. Second, instead of making the packaging big enough to go with full height side pieces, the unit is split in two and requires cam locks and dowels to make it's full 5 foot height. For some, if not put together tight enough, it may break at that joining. I would have preferred and been willing to pay a little more for, full height sides. My only complaints. I like it for the money.

Just bought this unit the yesterday, 9/25/13, and so far I love it. I had 2 of the smaller Media Towers from Atlantic that could hold about 120ish DVDs/Blu-rays each, but my collection of anime has grown to the point where they didn't cut it anymore. Pros: Decently inexpensive. A good quality cabinet will cost a couple hundred dollars. High quality ones will run over $1000. Easy to assemble. An electric drill is recommended although you could get away with a screwdriver if that's your only option. Took me about 30 minutes overall. Looks great. Nice black finish, recessed shelves, and the interwoven design on the backing give it a very nice look. Cons: Feels cheap during assembly. Once it's all put together, it's nice and stable, but I found myself worrying throughout the construction if it was going to break or fall apart. Worries unfounded! If you need a lot of storage, this unit is the way to go. It doesn't jut out far from the wall, sits 5' tall, and is about 3' wide. Originally I was going to order a more expensive model from bestbuy.com, but it was unavailable. Glad that was the case because this one is looking great.

We purchased this unit knowing full well that assembly was required, etc. I have no problem with this as I have a home full of things purchased as such. Yet half way through the process, or should I say ordeal, of putting the shelving together one of the lock nuts literally shattered followed by the support frame on the side snapping in two. While laying flat on the floor. I was initially going to chalk it up to a lesson learned but my fiancé convinced me to call the place of purchase and see what might be done (she was thinking rationally and I was not! I was rather irritated...) The local Best Buy graciously took it back for a refund, pieces and all. Do NOT waste your time. I will not purchase another item from this manufacturer.

DVD's, Blu ray, PS4, PS3 etc. All of these are compatible among the shelves of the multimedia storage cabinet (and more). I have an estimate of my collection, but missed the total by a box! What did I do? I popped the DVD's on the top of the shelf, horizontally. Worked like a charm. If you don't have skill assembling items of this nature, get some help. You may find yourself frustrated at the assembly process and trying to figure I out. Taking portions of the build apart and putting them back together again, as it is a very specific, step-by-step assembly. Don't get ahead of yourself, be patient as to put together properly as well as the fact that the parts may be a bit fragile individually. Once together, you may never need to disassemble. 2 anchors for the wall, to keep shelf from tilting, are included.
