I always used to just buy any printer without consideration of the lifetime ink supply cost. But after at least 6 different printers that literally sucked the carts dry after what always seemed like far too few print jobs, lately I've given more consideration into the actual operating costs of the printer, and not just the enticing "sale" price. Once I got a great deal on a very nice laser printer for just $99.00!' Only to find out less than 2 months later that the toner cartridge cost a whopping $200!
So anyhow, the new Canon Pixma Series appear to offer a perfect blend of affordable initial cost for the printer AND the required carts , by Canon, also available at a decent, affordable price. I highly recommend purchasing the Canon brand ink. No matter what you do decide to purchase when it comes time for that first or subsequent ink purchase, steer VERY CLEAR of the "For Dummies" line of ink carts (yes, they have even gotten into selling ink too!) as those carts are WORTHLESS!!!
