Canon’s all-new 45 Megapixel full-frame sensor is at the heart of the EOS R5’s superb image quality, which also leads the way for impressive 8K DCI cinematic movie capture with the ability to extract 35.4 Megapixel still images. Focus and speed are paramount in the EOS R5, providing impressive continuous capture at speeds of up to 20 frames-per-second and with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II capability, to track split second movements of even the most elusive of subjects. With 1,053 Automatic AF zones, it is easier than ever to photograph people with the use of Eye, Face and Head Detection AF, or intuitively track the whole body, face or eye of cats, dogs, or birds with Animal Detection AF. The 5-axis in-body image stabilization can effectively compensate for camera shake with approximately 8 stops of stabilization with use of both non-stabilized, and optically image stabilized lenses. Connectivity like 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, is also included.

I upgraded from a Canon 5D Mark IV to the R6 Mark II, and the difference has been incredible. The autofocus is lightning fast and tracks subjects effortlessly — even my daughter skating on the ice during hockey practice stays perfectly sharp. The low-light performance is outstanding, and I’ve noticed much cleaner images at higher ISOs compared to my DSLR. I also love how lightweight and comfortable it feels in hand, especially for long shoots. The electronic viewfinder took a little getting used to, but now I actually prefer it since I can preview my exposure in real time. The color rendition is classic Canon — rich and natural — and the dynamic range is impressive for both portraits and action shots. Battery life is solid, and the menu system feels intuitive once you customize it. Whether I’m photographing family moments, studio still life setups, or fast sports, this camera handles everything beautifully. I’d absolutely recommend the R6 Mark II to anyone ready to move into the mirrorless world — it’s a perfect balance of power, performance, and creativity.

I bought the R6Mkii a month ago but wanted to wait until I used it enough for a full review. I upgraded from a Canon t7, and though it was definitely a costly upgrade, it was 1000% worth it for me! The quality of the images and videos alone made me ecstatic, but now I also have ports for headphones and mics, two (2) SD card slots, and the LCD screen folds out for easier viewing access. Another thing that I like is that the SD card slot is separate from the battery slot. My old t7 had them in the same spot and sometimes it made it more difficult to reach for one or the other, especially if I was mounted on a tripod, but I haven’t had that issue with the r6mkii. When deciding on which camera I would invest in, I was between this one (r6mkii) and the Canon r5, since a lot of my work is in documentary film and needed better video features. Ultimately, I went with the r6mkii, because it had better ratings for battery and overheating, and some of the r5 features were overkill for me (I didn’t need all of the megapixels of an r5, and I’m happy using SD cards as opposed to the r5’s SD + CF combination). I don’t make a whole lot of money at my current job right now, so Best Buy’s financing plan has really helped me out as well! I looked into plans from multiple sellers, but Best Buy’s plan seemed to be the best one, as it is interest free if paid back in full within 12 months. I didn’t see any other retailers (B&H, Amazon, or second-hand sellers) with as good of a plan. I also waited until the r6mkii was on sale during the “Black Friday in July” event to help me with the cost further. Overall? Might be the best investment I’ve ever made!

Was looking into Sony mirrorless cameras but after seeing what was truly important to me, Canon was the best choice for what I wanted from my camera. The simplicity in the user interface was important also I love the color straight out of camera! It will not disappoint you!! I’m always amazed at the type of photos I can get out of this!
