Amazing Prints, Amazing Printer

I got this printer, admittedly, when it was on clearance in the store, but I'd been considering a wide-format printer for a while as my graphic design side-business was picking up and, since I do a little photography on the side, it made sense. I was on the fence about Canon vs. Epson, so the price made my decision for me. That being said, this printer is worth the full price. You'll be hard-pressed to find a printer that makes higher-quality prints in large-format for less money.
Colors are crisp and vibrant, even on the standard quality setting, thanks to the fact that it can print the dots of ink so close together. You'd be suprised what having a dedicated red and green tank can do for your prints. Grayscale (black & white) photos look amazing too. The unit is surprisingly quiet, considering how large it is.
Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this printer. My biggest complaint would be that you really need about a three-foot wide desk to work with it, and just as much room if you're printing on paper that can not be fed through the autofeeder such as the 13x19 Museum Etching paper (which is incredibly awesome paper, by the way).
In short, if you're looking for a wide-format printer and have the money to spend on the good paper (13x19 Canon Fine Art papers usually run at least $50 for 20 sheets) and have the space for it, you will not be disappointed. If you don't plan on making income from art reprints or photography, this printer might not be for you due to the initial cost of ownership and sheer bulk of it.

Most Fab Printer Ever

Recently purchased the fabulous Canon Pixma Pro 9000 and it's the best printers I've ever used. Easy set up, clear directions and operation produce great prints. The color fidelity matchs what on the monitor, full spectrum and crips sharp black and white.
The new ChomaLife 100 inks and papers provide long lasting quality prints you can be proud of. From 4x6 to 13x19- borderless if you want-each print captures the full beauty of the camera image right from the computer.
If you want prints that mirror the pictures you take this printer is the one to use. I've never seen such true color before. And installing the inks are clean painless one button operation. The printer even lets you know ahead of time when it's near time to replace a any of the eight colors, so you never have a problem running out of ink for a print job.
The advanced design and style of the Pixma Pro 9000 makes it one of the most enjoyable printers I have used. I feel confident I can relie on the dependable performance of this printers and continue to share the joy of producing fine prints in a variety of papers from high gloss to matt, including 'art papers' made for this printer.
I can only thank Canon for making such a hight quality, easy to use, dependable printer and thank Best Buy for making the purchase simple and good.
I stronly recomend this five star printer to anyone who enjoys great quality prints.

Get THIS one (Pro9000)

The difference between the Pro9000 and Pro9500 is the type of ink used. The Pro9000 uses dye ink (prints should last up to 20 years) and the Pro 9500 uses pigment ink (prints should last up two hundred years.) Personally, I'm satisfied with my prints lasting up to 20 years. For the photographer/artist who wants to sell their work to collectors, the Pro 9000 may not be the first choice. I have yet to experiment with Canon's Fine Art paper. I bought this printer because I have a 12 MP camera and I wanted to print on larger sizes of media. I love it so far... I use it exclusively for photos/art projects. I keep a Canon S820 (with a faulty print head) for printing documents. Buy the Pro9000--excellent value for money.

This printer is perfect. Great quality pictures. The only downside is that it takes a long time to warm up and start printing. But the picture quality is worth the wait. I would recommend getting the waranty through Best Buy, as when I first changed the ink cartriges the printer froze up. I took it back and they gave me a brand new printer. I was so glad for getting the waranty. 1 1/2 years latter and I am still loving this printer.

Got this last week and it's tremendous! I'm printing on Canon Pro and Plus papers, as well as Ilford gallerie papers. They're all breathtaking. My friends and family think they're professionally printed. I'm really happy with it. Had a Canon pixma i6600. Not even in the same category. I'm so glad I upgraded. Will print up to 13x19. It's fast too! But it is gigantic!!! I absolutely highly recommend it!

I bought this printer about 5 months ago and absolutely love it. I really like that it has 8 individual ink tanks. It is much cheaper to replace the inks this way. I get wonderfully bright pictures in all sizes. I can't say enough about this printer. If you scrapbook or print pictures for a living this is the printer for you. My 12 by 12 scrapbook pages print out with no streaks or off color spots. I've printed on canvas texture paper with no problems!

I went to Best Buy to buy Bluray discs and walked out with a printer! The sticker sales price was $349 and I asked half jocking if they could do any better, and they did! They gave me a price of $225 and at that price I had to add it to my collection of printers.......
If IBM was making printers today it would look just like that. It looks like a million bucks printer. The paper handling is fabulous. The printing is almost unsurpassed for color printing. I can't belive my luck.

I chose this printer because it was a dedicated photo printer and wasn't limited to an 8x10 printing cap. I printed a large quanity of 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10's for Christmas and was very happy with the results. The print speed was great and the color excellent.
I take a wide variety of photos both in/outdoors. The colors in the prints have been pretty accurate.
If you are looking for a higher end printer that delivers, I think you will be happy with this printer.
