RF28mm F2.8 STM lens is a super-compact, wide-angle lens great for travel, street photography, and video and is a great entry point for full frame EOS R cameras. Great for still photography and videography, 28mm has been the starting point for getting a wide-angle “look” in pictures and video for decades — wide enough on a full-frame camera, to have a distinct wide-angle character, and yet not so wide that it becomes a challenge to use. This lens absolutely can also be used with APS-C sensor EOS R-series cameras, like the EOS R7, R10, and R50. Its super-compact design combines beautifully with them, and on an APS-C sensor, it provides coverage equal to a standard 45mm lens. Its super-flat design belies the fact that this lens delivers 28mm wide-angle coverage on full frame cameras, along with an f/2.8 maximum aperture. The lens’s minimum focus distance is approximately 9 inches; it accepts 55mm filters, and with the incredibly small front lens element, it uses an optional, dedicated Canon screw-in lens hood EW-55. This compact 28mm RF lens is worth checking out, even if you already own other wide-angle lenses, and carries an attractive price, putting it within reach of many Canon EOS R-series users.

Got this lens today and immediately noticed the lightweight form factor. It is the lightest and smallest lens I have owned and makes my R6 feel like a point and shoot. It is super quiet, and the control switch on the lens is really easy to use. The pictures I got were incredible for the price point and the size of the lens. It doesn't compare to my EF 24-70 in any means, but I love the lightweight factor! I would recommend to anyone looking for something compact or if you are looking for a good starter lens for your R series camera.

I originally purchased this lens to be used on a Canon EOS R in order to reduce weight when hiking. I have yet to use it for that purpose but was able to produce a fantastic Christmas card photo for my neighbors who were seated in their Irish Pub / den. The field of view was perfect and the image quality spectacular.

Great little lens. The size of it is definitely the best part. Very sharp as well.
