A couple of years ago I had a TI-89 Titanium that was later stolen. I had to get a new graphing calculator for my precalc class, but TI's are over $100.00. During high school I had at one time replaced my "Ti-30 whatever" with a Casio fx115 and thought it was a lot more calculator for less money. This calculator is at highest $99 at Staples. So far I am having the same experience as before. The calculator is much more user friendly, with fewer sub-menus. My precalc book is written with an index specifically for TI-84 and I can perform every function faster than anyone in my class, and they have instructions in the text book how to do it. To date there is only one problem that the keys were not intuitively labled, but the calculator comes with a CD ROM instuction manual (great for the environmentally conscious) and all I did was type in the search bar what I wanted to do and issue resolved. Unlike the TI's which it took me a week or more just to learn all the menus, this calculator has several more function keys for faster navigation. The screen is wider and sharper than TI and it has a back light. Why TI graphing calculator is the standard has got to be nothing but beauracracy. I won't even consider a TI if I ever need to replace this calc.

Amazing Calculator

I bought this calculator for a current College Algebra class, Trigonometry class in the fall, and Calculus class in the spring. At first I didn’t get the calculator, it was just so complex to use. I spent about a week messing with it, reading the manual, and just practicing with it in class. After a week I’ve came to love this calculator! It’s pretty simple to use once you get used to it. The ‘Natural Display’ is amazing! You can actually type up equations just like you see them in the book, but it takes messing around with the settings to get the natural display to work. I use this calculator for everything; simple math, algebraic equations, polynomials, and even graphing circles, lines, parabolas etc. The calculator has a never ending list of functions that it’s able to perform. This calculator is comparable to the TI-84 and even the TI-89, but for a fraction of the price, and I feel that I’ve gotten a way better calculator at a way better price.
