    Synopsis

The beach bunnies parade around on the sand in skimpy bikinis and the waiter brings another icy drink out to you on the lounge chair. A cool breeze blows in off the Pacific, cutting the heat around Banoi's flagship Royal Palms Resort. Completely cut off from the rest of the world, surrounded by vacationers with money to burn at this ultimate getaway spot, you smile, knowing this is paradise. But what happens when paradise is lost?

When a contagious zombie outbreak sweeps Banoi, effectively turning it into a Dead Island, it's up to you and three other individuals who are strangely immune to zombification to protect the survivors from the horror and try to find a way to escape. The island's open-world setting offers countless things to do and objectives to complete as you try to find out what's really going on in this zombie slasher action RPG. Collect and customize weapons to fight off the zombies in close-quarter melee combat. As you advance through the story, you will gain experience points, allowing you to unlock skill trees and develop your character. Take on the undead with up to three friends in the seamless multiplayer mode that allows you to drop in and out of each other's games at any time. Explore Ryder White's campaign and the all-new Bloodbath Arena in this Game of the Year Edition to learn more about the motivations of the game's antagonist and experience four new challenging arenas. In this edition fully loaded with new content, you also receive blueprints to the highly coveted Ripper weapon mod. Are you ready for the madness, carnage and chaos of this Dead Island?

I am a huge fan of the zombie genre, and thoroughly enjoy a good zombie game! I have played through the Left For Dead Series and loved it, so going in to Dead Island, I already had something to base the experience off of. I like the first person perspective quite a bit, and the controls and action is very satisfying! The story line and quests change up enough to keep me interested, and the open world concept is a big plus! The down side. First, the action is great except they forgot to make you and the other zombies solid objects. For instance, if a zombie rushes you and you miss with your attack, they don't stay in front of you, they run right through you, and now you have a zombie behind you. And you can run through them as well. This can be hugely irritating when fighting a horde of zombies because if you back yourself into a narrow alleyway to fight a bunch of them, the ones you miss end up behind you, and the bottleneck you intended to use as a defense is a detriment, not a help. Secondly, I don't mind blood and violence, but this trend that everything has to have cussing and cleavage to make it interesting or realistic is false. Every woman on the island is a scantly clad model in a bikini, and the language gets old... I'm a grown adult, and would enjoy playing action games even more without adult content. It seems like it would be an easy option to add to the Sound Menu. Toggle adult language on/off. Overall, it's a fun game. Just know what you're getting into!

As a Left 4 Dead fan, I was skeptical at first, but then I became enthralled by the gameplay, content and story of Dead Island. Enriched by the island life, the zombie apocalypse takes a different turn. You will be thrown into vacation; an edge of your seat vacation. You will want to see the sights, meet the people and bash in a couple of skulls or set enemies on fire. In an open world, it is entirely your choice of how you want to proceed; follow the main story, take side quests, explore the island or choosing to play by yourself or bringing friends to the onslaught of undead. Be prepared for anything by leveling up your character in 3 different skill trees that add different experiences to your gameplay plus upgrade and modify your weaponry to take on the nasty infected inhabitants of Banoi.

This game is an underrated gem of A game. The action and gory intensity , is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. the Melee combat is extremely fun and when you add three other players it becomes a must play. The story line thought is sadly bland and almost emotionless there are a couple points that have you gasping or even crying but there are some points in the story where the characters share the emotions of a rock.but over all i loved the game and Cant wait to buy the sequel.

All the usual elements of an RPG like buying & selling weapons, modding weapons, collecting other items, and tons of missions. With the bonus of zombies. Dead Island was so much better Dead Rising or any of the newer Resident Evil games. If you want a zombie game get it or one of the Left 4 Dead games. Looking forward to the new Dead Island Riptide coming out soon.

This is one of those games I saw previews for and knew I would like but just never got around to finding it in stores. So glad i finally did. Focusing on melee combat is new for a zombie ga,e and ads a few new levels of terror and suspense. Probably a tad difficult for new players but mastering the game comes at the right time later on. All around fun to play and quite the joy.

Decent game, just not for me.

Overall, Dead Island looks like a decent game...just not my 'cup of tea'. Lots of weapon choices help to freshen up the zombie game genre, but I found myself getting a bit bored and stopped playing well before the end of the campaign. I'd recommend this to fans of RPG but not necessarily those who like constant action arcade style games.

One of the best games I have played in quite awhile. I get absorbed in it and before I know it a couple hours have gone by. This game really recreates the zombie apocalypse feel. Many times I have been wandering around in the game and had a zombie jump out of nowhere to literally make me jump. Great experience.

For the price it was great and enjoyed the game at first ,however it seems to be real exhausting just to defeat an opponent.I didn't play the game much further than the beginning chapter. It was an impulse buy and I ended up buying the WALKING DEAD game which I initially wanted in the first place.
