Q: What is the differences between Solide State Drive and Had Drive
A: SSDs are definitely more superior. They tend to make a computer run 10x faster than traditional standard hard drives with 5200 rpm read/write speeds. Most laptops that are running a 500gb or 1TB will be running at that 5200 rpm speed. There are hard drive replacements by seagate or western digital that have higher speeds like 7200 rpm but even those are still slower than SSDs.
Q: Is the keyboard backlit? and if not, is there a way to add that?
A: The keyboard is not back lit and i doubt there is anyway to add it. To be honest, i dont have a problem that it isn't back lit the screen gives off enough light.
A: I purchased an open box, geek squad certified. Looked brand new and no problems.
Q: 1
A: This is an excellent laptop for the money. The Skylake Core i3 is very zippy, and combined with the 8GB of RAM and 128GB Solid State Drive, makes starting up/shutting down, opening apps and files, and multitasking nearly instantaneous. Perfect for Office, standard photo editing/media creation, internet browsing, video/music streaming, and casual gaming. Most computers in this price range have Celeron or Pentium processors, whereas this one has a 6th Gen i3 that nearly doubles the performance of those others. Also, many have 4 or 6GB of RAM whereas you get a full 8GB here. The one downside is the size of the SSD--it's extremely fast, but 128GB may not be enough for you. If that's the case, you can always order a 500GB SSD from Newegg or somewhere and replace the 128GB SSD in this laptop relatively easily.
Q: How long does the battery last up to?
A: In my personal experience, it lasts all day, up to 10 hours, with moderate use. I almost never carry a charger while taking this laptop to meetings.
Q: Can't figure out how to get screen to rotate
A: Sound like you have the rotation setting in locked position. Do a search at the bottom of Windows and type rotation or screen rotation
A: I asked Dell the same question about upgrading to a 256gb SSD, the Dell Technician told me NO. 128gb is the max and anything greater than this will void the warranty because it will be too much power consumption for this particular laptop. I believe Dell is incorrect but I have emails as proof.
