Geek Squad worked on my old Toshiba Laptop a number of times until it's Mother Board crashed. But I'd been talking to them about what would make sense for me based on my usage. Intel i-3 was on the recommended list for me with a hard drive of 1TB and 8 GB ram. And they recommended DELL or ASUS. I'd been looking at laptops on the BestBuy floor and my budget was around $400.My laptop had a 17" screen and I suddenly remembered that I hardly moved the thing off my desk so why not get a desktop again? I had one before but it was not a wireless tower and I hated all the wires. But they make them slimmer and OMG so much lighter now. Besides that, I already had a monitor at home from my old Dell desktop which I'd hardly used but was saving for a rainy day in case I needed it. The only thing is I had to buy a set of speakers but those were only $14. I work from home, have a website, write blogs and newsletters, go on Facebook and all the usual things, shopping too. I do not do gaming so cannot speak to that. It is fast and it was President's Day right after I purchased it and Best Buy will issue you a refund if you find the product cheaper elsewhere--they can even check if you call in (links with phone numbers on Best Buy websites) to see if it actually is cheaper elsewhere. They found the record of my purchase and within a few days refunded $100. My wireless download speed from my internet provider that I pay for is 50 Mbps. This computer is plenty fast and I have multiple windows open and there's no complaint there. I could pay more to Continuum and go up to 75 Mbps but don't need them. This Dell Inspiron has a CD player and lots of USB ports, two in the front and a mic jack and headset jack and I'm sure other specs that I don't use so check the product description. This tower will last longer than a laptop I think as so many things go wrong with laptops. I have a tablet which I use to access the internet when I want to go online but be away from my desk. So this works for me. I hope my review is helpful as far as educating your purchase.

I got this computer as a replacement for an aging laptop that was displaying the dreaded "blue screen" several times a day lately. (I haven't determined if it was hardware or software (virus) related.) This new Dell computer was easy to set up, not a lot of bloatware and it performs very well for what I need it for. I use the computer for browsing the web, online shopping and paying bills. Occasionally it gets used for some light game playing. I was a longtime Windows 7 user (and still am at work) and this is my first experience with Windows 10. To tell you the truth, I don't really see what the hubbub is all about with people hating Windows 10. To me it isn't really that much different. I had to learn how to find and use a few of the basic things which only took me a few days, and now it all seems quite familiar to me. One thing I really like is how fast the computer starts up. Not sure if this is the computer, or differences with Windows 10 but I don't really care. I'm up and computing in like less that a minute while I had to wait a few minutes with my old machine. I'm not a gamer so I can't really comment on the speed of the machine under a heavy load, but everything I need it for happens very quickly and I haven't experienced any crashes that I can remember after about a month of everyday use. What a treat after being used to total crashes and restarts every hour or so. If your computer use is similar to mine, I don't think you will be disappointed.

This desktop is the minimum I would recommend for anyone trying to get a basic desktop that is going to last them a while. Pro's: Has an Intel Core Processor which is the most current type of processor on the market. I don't understand why anyone would buy a pentium, atom or celeron anymore. Has plenty of RAM for multitasking. You want to have a few tabs up? Go ahead this can handle lots of Tabs for web-browsing and multiple basic programs open at a time. Cons: Has an old-school traditional hard drive. Now that's not really a problem but with the world crying out for devices as responsive as smart phones it doesn't make sense to buy a computer and have it slower on opening things than a smart phone. If you have a friend/family member who can install a solid state drive (even a small one such as a 128gb if your needs aren't that great) have that done immediately. Every time I have a family member who has a problem with their computer I just have them buy this and I put the solid state drive in it for them, boom they have a computer that should easily last 8 years and they didn't have to refinance their house to get it. I have done 6 upgrades for family members on these computers and have not had any problems with them.

My 11 year old Dell went down on 6/10/17. I took it to Staples just around the corner here in Escondido, CA. They talked me into buying a refurbished HP desktop. It took a week to get here then they could not transfer my data from the old to the new. This took a little over 2 weeks with me going over several times to check on the status. So they had me order a brand new computer. After talking to a friend who moved away who used to work on my computer problems. He said to go to Best Buy and talk to Geek Squad in San Marcos, CA which is next to Escondido. On 7/2/17 I cancelled the order at Staples then went over to Best Buy on 7/3/17. I went up to the Geek Squad counter with my old computer. They asked intelligent questions they looked at the old computer and said it was time to buy and new computer. They transfered all of my old data without any problems. I picked up the new computer on 7/5/17 took it home plugged it in turned it on and Quicken did not load up. A window came up and said there was a problem with Windows interface. I immediately went back to Geek Squad they said they were having trouble with that . They again said they could fix it and I picked up the new computer in good working order on 7/7/17. Very satisfied!

For most home use, this hits the sweet spot of performance and features. My only gripe is the power supply and other parts are proprietary; a standard ATX power supply won't fit, despite this being a normal compact tower configuration. This is common across all major PC brands. The system boots pretty quick, and after uninstalling a few pre-installed items I didn't want, it's an uncluttered Windows 10 experience. If you want to do any gaming, just add a low-power, low-cost PCI-e graphics card, like the single-fan version of MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC, and this PC will then run most current popular games at High quality at 1080p resolution. Final note: keep an eye out for sales on this model. My local Best Buy had this model on sale for about $380, a very good deal!

Bought on sale for 350 .I must say I was skeptical about having another i3 processor. In my laptop its a 6th generation 2.2ghz and is slow slow slow occasionally freezing up also..This tower has a 7th generation 3.9ghz i3,ddr4 2400mhz ram and is surprisingly quick.Had no problems at all setting it up, downloading updates, and deleting certain apps. After all the bad reviews I have read regarding these and other brands freezing up,lousy, power supplies going souths, etc...I have not experienced anything bad ..just all around good.If you need a basic computer that's quick, reliable, and cheap on the bank account I recommend this one for basic needs.

    Great PC for my needs...

After only six years of use my HP desktop's finally gave up. Everything started when I reluctantly decided to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 -thanks to M.S. pushing on Windows 10 for "free". My patience finally gave up after the so-called "creators" update, which was the last drop in painful and frustrating experience with Windows 10. So after doing some search out there for a replacement I found a really good deal on a new Dell Inspiron, I can tell that I'm gladly surprise with it's performance. It's quick and responsive and very quite indeed. After being an HP fan for so many years, I have to admit that my experience so far with this Dell product has been quite satisfying. I just hope it will last at least until M.S. comes out with a new Windows 10 replacement -which has been a total disappointment, at least in my own experience...

I purchased this PC to replace an older computer in the office of a non-profit. It is used primarily for basic word processing and internet connection. No need for high-end power in the environment. The administrative assistant who uses the machine says it fills the need very well. Although the processor isn't top of the line, 8GB RAM is adequate and 1TB storage is more than most will need for basic home or office work. The footprint isn't huge and it can be used either in a desktop or "tower" configuration. It does include a basic USB keyboard and wired mouse, one may wish to have a wireless mouse and perhaps a little more substantial keyboard. For the sale price, it can't be beat. Setup was easy, and all is working as it should. We would recommend this PC as a good desktop PC solution when basic function is needed.
