Joshua Seth - Tai Kamiya / Taichi Yagami (English version)
Digimon Adventure Tri.: Reunion is a fun return to the world of Digimon’s Digital Monsters with epic battles and powerful Digimon that should definitely appeal to fans of the original series.
Many years have passed since the original show and the characters are now in high school. Tai encounters a strange Digimon that jeopardizes the reputation of the rest of the magical creatures. Tai is reunited with the rest of the Digidestined and they come together with their Digimon to fight against the destructive monsters that Tai encounters. As this threat becomes more hostile, the Digidestined must work together to fight against it.
My favorite part of this film is the climactic final battle. Seeing the Digidestined fight against one common evil is very epic. This scene feels like it has real stakes to it. I honestly was unsure of what would happen next. It is a nice pay-off for what the film has been building up to the whole time. The Digimon really let loose and you finally really get to see the grand scale of their powers onscreen in a rewarding way.
I do not like the ending to this film. It might catch you off guard with an ending that feels abrupt. You could argue that they chose to end it this way because this film has two other sequels, but I think they could have at least added one more scene.
This film is a little confusing. I know little of the Digimon mythos and there is some exposition that I don’t understand. However, this series’ welcoming nature though makes up for that. Even though I do not know the characters, they interact in a way that made me feel as if I knew them already. I mostly credit the voice cast for this. They have never played these characters before or worked together, but it feels as if they’ve known each other for a long time and their chemistry feels very much believable.
I give this DVD an age rating of 5 to 14. It’s pretty much for all ages and, if you’re a fan of Digimon, I highly recommend it. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Fans of Digimon will really enjoy it.

Digimon was a big part of my childhood like a lot of kids I waited to catch episodes everyday after school and new episodes on Saturday mornings on FOX Kids, great times! So I was super excited to see a continuation to the original series that started it all. This is Digimon Adventure Tri: Reunion.
First off Shout Factory has put out a spectacular release. A standard Blu-ray case with a a nice cardboard slipcover with some awesome artwork chosen for the cover. This release houses both a Blu-ray/DVD version of the film & includes a digital copy. An English dub with several of the original actors have returned from the 1st season to reprise their roles including Joshua Seth as Tai. It's also the first time the Japanese version has been included on any US release for the series, so whichever one you prefer this set has you covered. Presentation is nice in terms of video & audio both turned out great. As an added treat a couple of bonus features are included such as an interview with the English cast & Director of the dub and a look at the premiere screening for the movie. Both are fun watches.
Digimon Adventure Tri is worth watching for any long time Digimon fans. If you loved the original cast & partner Digimon you'll enjoy this. This first part is very much like a reunion, the gang reunites to combat a new threat that could spell out trouble for both worlds, there's a nice balance of action and adventure as well as down time with our cast. It's also quite a nostalgia trip, we get to revisit these familiar characters and see what their up to. Many of us were kids when we first went into the Digital World and as we grew Tai & his friends have done the same, so we know these guys it's like revisiting an old friend. This is only the first installment of six so there's plenty more to be seen. Can't wait to see where the story goes & make sure you support the home releases from Shout factory!

Digimon Adventure Tri: Reunion is the first in a 6 part movie series taking place 6 years after the events of Digimon Adventure 01 and 3 years after the events of Digimon Adventure 02. The gate to the Digital World has been closed for about a year, preventing the Digidestined from seeing their Digimon partners during this time. Additionally, since there hasn't been any threat uniting the teens together, they've drifted apart from each other as well. Naturally that changes when "infected" Digimon start making their way into the real world. The original 8 Digidestined are reunited with their Digimon and tasked with saving the day once again.
Both the English and Japanese dialogue are available on this set, which is a first for a Digimon release (the original Adventure 01 and 02 dubs were edited so the Japanese dialogue was not available on the DVD releases for those). Most of the original English voice cast returns but there are also a number of new additions, but no one feels too out of place.
Overall, this is an excellent release. Just keep in mind that is the beginning of a movie series so the plot doesn't have a proper resolution in the end and that you're meant to continue watching the other movies following this one.

Reunion is part one of Digimon Adventure Tri and takes place six years after the original season and Tai and the gang are in high school now. Since this is part one of the Tri movie series it feels like binge watching a few seamless episodes from a tv season, and because of this the movie ends with a cliffhanger. The series appears to have grown up with the characters as the writing is targeted at a more mature audience (i.e. fans of the original show). Digimon Adventure Tri is the season three we never got from the original cast of characters. This is a must have for fans of the original two seasons of Digimon Adventure!

First and foremost, this movie does contain both English and Japanese voice recordings. A majority of the English voice actors from the original season 1 of Digimon reprise their roles as both the human and Digimon characters.
The movie does start off a bit slow, because the main characters have gone their separate ways. They finally all get reunited with each other and with their Digimon partners when Kuwagamon attacks the city.
Overall, I would say this movie was pretty good. I have a feeling that the next Digimon Tri movies will have more action and plot now that the DigiDestined have been brought back together.

I was surprised when I heard they had made more DIgimon Adventure movies (was surprised by how many Digimon series there are period really). But when I saw they had the first four at a local resale shop I decided to pick them up and thus far I've only watched this one. But it was good the animation seeems a bit odd to me but it's nostalgic seeing characters and a new show from a work I watched as a kid.
Bottom line if you liked the old ones this one is also worth it if not skip it.

The 1st season of characters are back for this nostalgia filled sequel. It is great to have most of the original cast back. Besides having the nostalgic feel, it has many new elements such as the kids growing up. The relationships have grown and matured, from characters interested in each other and how the play out. The animation is great and improved. The digimon are amusing as ever and their battles are great to watch. The story is strong but with the cliffhanger you will want more. 100% worth watching!!

After seeing the original dub on crunchyroll, watching the English Dub in full (as it was shown in theaters, instead of split up into 22-minute "episodes) is the best way to experience the classic show's return. Hearing some voice actors from the 90s show reprise their roles was a real treat, and the new cast do a great job staying faithful to the original. All at a reasonable price. A must-have for any Digi-fans collection. I can't wait for Part 2 in August!
