Burn ok but Scratch Like Crazy!

      Posted

I happen to be one of those people who has to burn DVDs a lot for various reasons. I have used multiple brands like Sony, HP, Verbatium, Ridata etc. While these Dynex discs have burned fine (I just burn them at 4.9X because I;m not in a hurry) they scratch like Crazy. I've never seen a brand so susceptible to scratching. Even doing something like just putting a label on them while on top of flat plastic and holding them fairly still will scratch them! I've labeled a ton of DVDs, I've never had this scratching issue like this with any other brands. I'm going to have to reburn a few of my discs just because the discs scratched up so bad just labeling them. begs the question, how long will these hold up if they scratch doing next to nothing to them? I'll use these discs, but after that, I don't think I'll return to dynex. Even the HP discs I had before held up better to scratching. So, they have worked ok but I wouldn't put anything on them you want to hang around any length of time without being damaged. I've never seen anything like this before.

      FRUSTRATION ALERT

I purchased these awhile ago to back up my older digital photos to a DVD format. I was able to burn 7 of about 300 photos and received an error message. After multiple tries and multiple discs, I thought my DVD burner was bad. Today my husband tried to use them to back up his new computer and after one worked multiple error messages. I tried to check the DVD on my computer and it locked it up necessitating more work and frustration. Then I read the other reviews and realized these are worthless!! Don't buy unless you love frustration in your life--see 2nd listing for this product at 2 stars. I suggest Best Buy remove these from their product line.

I picked up these DVD-R disc because they were on sale at a great price. I have for years purchased verbatim brand discs because I found them very reliable. Recently I have not always been able to finalize the disc after recording on them (this may be because of the disc or the old machine that they are recorded on). So I figured I would try these discs since they were on sale. So far, after using only 2-3 of the discs, I have not yet had a problem. We will see what the rest of the spindle does. Maybe I found a new reliable disc to use.

used 5 of them so far. no issues. they aren't memorex, so thats all I care about. Never ever buying memorex again. period. ever. Every single memorex disc I ever bought, eventually stopped working. I don't know how hard it is to make a blank media disk that doesn't stop working after it has been played a few times, but apparantly it is harder than I thought because Memorex has not mastered the art yet. I've bought other Dynex products. They are always cheapest, and *usually* are good enough for regular use.

In today's era of "The Cloud," why do DVDs still exist? Flexibility of usability and back-up purposes are the answers. When Wifi won't cooperate (to load up a stored presentation), or a computer is on the fritz, what is one to do? These blank DVDs work great...use them to store precious digital photos, or an extra copy of that critical presentation. After all, other mediums like flash drives aren't always recognized/compatible with corporate computers!

I've noticed that, as streaming content becomes more popular, blank DVD's are getting more scarce. It's a shame, because I've amassed quite a collection of show and movies in the format, and I don't care a thing in the world for streaming. Anyway, I was happy to find these moderately-priced ($9.99 for a spindle of 25 discs) DVD-R's from Dynex. I've been thru probably 100 or more discs, and haven't had any issues with them, in recording or playback.

Well, I'm very budget conscious but I like to burn lots of movies to discs. I've used all 25 in the spindle and I did not have one bad disk out of the 25 of them. I'm surprised on how durable and well made these disks are. Taking a disk out of a case has proven that they won't snap in the area where your finger goes through. You can get these on sale from time to time but for the price you pay its very reasonable for an everyday price.

I tried these cause i got 100 for $13. I am very impressed. I usually use Verbatim but I am going to switch to these. They are every bit as good. I haven't had any problems with them. I have 3 different burners and these work great in all of them. They are all different brands of burners. NO COASTERS HERE!! VERY HAPPY WITH THESE.
