      Its just "ok"

Since our son loves PBSKIDS we thought it would be ideal. It has hard rubber Bumpers (just in case it gets dropped) which is nice, PBS kids apps and video's (videos do require wifi) - which are already installed and access to the google play store so you can add more apps of your choosing - what more could you want? Oh yeah, it has a camera too. =) Just remember, it is what it is ~ A kids tablet. Don't expect it to be comparable to a Samsung Tablet or iPad. Its probably closer to one of the lower end tablets (in my opinion). It doesn't look great from all angles (screen is low quality), camera is "meh", it sometimes says the memory card is corrupted (a reboot fixes that) and from time to time the video playback can be a little funky (think "stop motion"). Software / firmware / app maybe?? Aside from that, its just ok. It'll work to keep your toddler entertained in the car / restaurant without you risking and possibly destroying "mommy and daddy's" handheld device. I would recommend this to a friend --> *after informing them of its "quirks".

Best Tablet for my 23 Month Old Daughter!

This is the first Tablet I have seen that is designed for children, and actually works great too! - Super Durable, and even has an extra safe Rubber Bumper that goes around the outside right through the middle area on the back of the tablet. - Has a really nice games and video and other fun activities software loaded on by default. But, the biggest advantage so far, that I have not seen on any other kids tablet, is its 'Game Mode'. By default, when you enter the kids software section, by starting the children's app on the main page of the tablet, it has really big icons, easy to see, filled with super popular kids characters, shows, games, videos, doodles, etc... --> The BIG Deal! <-- But the best thing is when my daughter touches the android buttons to go back, or to close all open apps, etc... it catches that, blocks it, and puts them right back in the app or game they were playing when they pressed the android button to stop or go back, etc... You may not think that's a big deal, but, because of that feature, my daughter was finally able to make the connection with the buttons she needs in the games and apps, and the ones that take her away from the games and apps. She starting using Tablets (Kids Amazon Fire Tablet with Bumper Case, my iPad Mini when under supervision) at 18 months, and now, 4 months later, and still not yet 2 years old, she knows how to get into games, start them, close them, understand how to play a bunch of them, she does touches, pinches, outward pinches, etc... A Pro before official Toddler-hood!

I don't think it has been Beta tested

I got it for my son in January (2017) and had to return it next day. It was previously used and was sold as new. It was locked on someone else's account and was already password locked. After returned it got a new one and had to return it in a month. Locked on the PBS KIDS! opening screen (annoying for sure) going in a loop. Resetting button did not do anything to solve the problem (which is almost impossible to find anything thin, but strong enough to use on it). Can not connect to your PC and even tho PC recognize it, you can not put your data on it even if it has a SD card. You have to take SD card out and connect it to your PC. If you add your own videos and put the SD card back, you have to restart several times for it to recognize the SD card. They claim 6 hours of use time, but lucky if you get 3, even with max battery saver settings. Takes long time to charge also. The kids play mode wont allow me to run 3rd party app. Only positive thing is the screen not being glass, thus a bit more durable. The blue cover should be permanent, my kid keeps taking it off and have to remind him to put it back on. Many of the pre installed PBS apps are demos. Make sure you buy warranty if you buy it.

After stupidly purchasing a tablet from Walmart, I went to Best Buy to find a better one. My son loves peppa pig and most importantly curiois George. So I thought I'd give it a try. There's my second mistake. First of all, the kids mode is a joke. Second, it asks you to verify. If you don't it will lock your tablet. I have verified multiple times, even called the help line to make sure I was doing it right after it STILL kept popping up that I hadn't verified. It continues to pop up after I verify. Which is annoying. The worst part is, the battery. We take 8 hour trips, I don't expect it to last that long. But after 20 minutes of driving I near the "low battery" sound from him watching Daniel tiger. I will be putting this where it belongs, where all electronics go to perish. PBS, congrats on making a terrible tablet, not quite as bad as Walmarts, but not much better.

      Great idea, terrible execution

We were vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC and I wanted to get something to keep my 7-year old twin boys busy during the long drive home. These tablets seemed to fit the bill as I appreciated the educational aspect AND the parental controls. Unfortunately, the first tablet would randomly display error messages and freeze up regularly. The second was not even properly configured out of the box and it took some know how to get the PBS Android skin working properly. Then unfortunately it displayed the same symptoms as the first tablet. Back to the store with both. I think the idea of the PBS tablets is great, especially the parental controls. Too bad they were so cheaply made (software), lacking any quality control.

only 1 star bc I can't leave zero stars

This product worked fine for about 2 months. Although it is very complicated to set up parental controls.. Also some of the preloaded apps allow kids to get on Youtube without any filtering. After about 2 mos it was only good for about 45 mins of play. Then it started blacking out or only showing the screen about 4 mins or so before it blacked out. I contacted the company and the replacement warranty is only good for 190 days. After that time you must pay $45 for another one. The Emantics rep in customer service told me the tablet is designed for about 6 mos of use because it's a "children's tablet". DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

      Not bad

For the money it’s not bad. It came with a case and a screen protector which was a plus. Also you can add an SD card which is great as well. However the tablet is very glitchy. Sometimes playtime mode will “stop responding” and if I’m not around to realize my 3 year old son will get kicked out of playtime mode leaving him to use all the tablet features. I have walked in to him watching cartoon videos on YouTube with plenty of curse words in it. Also the battery life isn’t great. But again it’s not bad for the money. Is it worth the money definitely. Especially if you have a rough child like I do lol

The tablet was extremely buggy--often stating that apps that I'd already approved had to be approved in Playtime Safe Mode, but not indicating how in any documentation. Called tech support and they wanted to reset tablet but couldn't say that would fix it. As a workaround, I found you could just use the tablet outside of kid mode and everything worked fine. When the battery died, the tablet wouldn't charge at all. Also, the parental controls don't work if Internet is not available. I returned it and bought something else.
