A Very Good Smart LED Lightbulb, Without the Hub
Posted .I have the Eufy Lumos Color LED Light Bulb and I've been using it for about a week now. The own a lot of smart light bulbs as well as a lot of non-smart LED bulbs, as I've slowly been replacing every light in my house with LED bulbs, and all of the lamps with Smart Bulbs. The Eufy Lumos line is a pretty solid LED smart bulb, with very natural white tones, putting it well above most bargain-brand smart LED bulbs. The color profile is good. Setup of the bulb is a breeze and it does not require a hub (unlike Philip's Hue), which is convenient if you don't want to have to plug another thing into your wall & connect to your WiFi. The bulb gets setup simply using your phone or tablet, and it uses local wireless to connect once to your phone, and then connects to your router. Setup was easy and I've been pleased with the Eufy app, which is one of the nicer non-Philips, non-Nest smart home apps (For instance, compared to WeMo by Belkin and other cheaper brands, the Eufy app is surprisingly elegant and well made). Another plus with the app is that it is super easy to update the firmware for the bulb. It literally takes 1 tap on your phone, and it doesn't require resetting hubs or anything like that like other smart devices sometimes require. This sounds unimportant, but it's important for these apps to make it easy to update firmware, especially as smart devices are commonly exploited to be used in DDoS attacks by nefarious people. I'm not completely over the moon on this bulb, though, and I gave it 4 stars because at ~$40-$45, the bulb just isn't as good as the Philips Hue line of colored bulbs. Sure, it doesn't require a hub, which is nice, so that's one extra cost that you don't need which makes starting out with this lineup of bulbs cheaper than starting with a Hue system, but if you've already got a Philips Hue Hub, then bulb vs bulb, the hue bulbs are just much better than this. First, the refresh rate on the bulb is worse than the Hue, but better than most cheaper LED bulbs. It's not noticeable to the naked eye, at least... I don't think that it is, but if you put a phone camera on slow mo, 120fps or 240fps, you can see a very noticeable shuttering effect that you just don't see with Hue bulbs. Further, when transitioning colors, the Eufy bulb has a very noticable "digital" transition effect, which is to say, it harshly transitions colors, where as the Hue bulbs naturally fade in and out using a sort of analog-like transition... It just makes for a much smoother effect. While you might not be changing colors or dimming that often, and it's not a deal breaker, if you use some of the gimmicks of the app like having rotating colors (which is, really, a novelty but still sort of cool) having this very noticeable transition time sort of ruins the effect. Here's a video of the banding, which again is not noticeable to the naked eye for me, but if my camera phone picks it up, then it might be for some people: https://youtu.be/d0kblQghkCI I would recommend the Eufy line if you don't want a Hub-based smart lightbulb system and if you don't want to make that larger investment into the Philips Hue line. The LED quality is very high, much higher than bargain priced bulbs. If the price of these bulbs came down from $45 to something lower, say, $30-$35, then I'd say they're the best bang for the buck for smart LED lighting. Plusses: - Easy to setup - No hub - Cheaper initial investment than Philips Hue - Good, high quality LED bulb Deltas: - Not as good color reproduction as Hue - Some people might notice the shuttering more so than other higher priced bulbs, very noticeable if you're recording video, especially slow mo video, around these bulbs.

Nifty Little Bulb Provides Many Solutions
Posted .Tried out this bulb due to its attractive pricing. The bulb is Wi-Fi enabled and can be controlled via the Eufy app, AmazonAlexa or GoogleAssistant. The best part is that you no longer have to wonder if the light is on or off as you can view its status and control it from the app. The best way to maximize the abilities of this bulb is to use the Eufy app with the Alexa app. Using Alexa, allows you to use voice commands on the bulb but the full functionality is only available on the Eufy app. Sounds a bit cumbersome but once its setup, you can use either since the Alexa app piggybacks off the Eufy interface anyways. Simply put, if you are looking for a simple no fuss solution, use the Alexa app but if you’re a lighting aficionado, then use the Eufy app. However, it does not support Samsung SmartThings The Alexa app is great from a user-friendly perspective. It’s a simple app with a nice big button that tells you if it’s on or off, a slider to control the brightness and a pretty simple color selection. Great stuff for someone who wants something that works without too much fuss in setting it up and using it. You can also program custom voice commands to make the bulb do what you want, set it on a schedule and pair it with another event of a supported device. For example, I could leave the light off and have an event where if motion is detected on my RingVideoDoorbell, it would turn the light on at whatever brightness and color I want. I just used the schedule option to turn the lights on and off at specific times every day but with different colors. I suspect that this is the app 95% of the users are going to be using. If the Alexa app is so great, what does the Eufy app do then? First, it gives you almost infinite number of color combinations as it has a color palette that you can select the color you want in the shade you want and save them as favorites. It also has pre-programmed mood options like Future Fusion, Fire Place, Soothing Spa and a bunch more where the lights will change color and intensity in some fashion. I found the Party’s On setting most amusing and will likely use it for #Halloween. It also has a flow option that constantly changes its color as well as a music option that changes its colors according to the music. Now, there is also an away function that allows the bulb to be turned on and off at a random times during a set time frame. Great for when you are on vacation. Overall, this bulb offers some nice options. For one, it provided a solution that I needed with the scheduling option so it has eliminated the need to install a timer switch.

My favorite smart bulb
Posted .I've tried out many smart light bulbs out on the market now it can be a crazy task to hunt down the right ones something that fits both your needs and wallet. I recently I came across a smart light bulb that has the true color and brightness compared to others So you might be thinking “Well how does it work” well like most LED bulbs any wifi or "smart bulbs" you have to download an app like this bulb from eufy the app when I first downloaded the eufy months ago I wasn't a fan of it but once you have it set up you can always control it with your Amazon Alexa iPhone app. But the eufy app is very easy to grasp within a few mins or less of playing around when download it from the app store I didn’t try it on Android but I can assume it works the same if you are pairing it to work with your Google Home Overall After using this LED Bulb for a few weeks , I wasn’t able to find anything wrong it besides the weight when compared to my many other Smart Bulbs I wish somehow they could have made it a bit lighter I really like this bulb alot I think it's got the best true color whether using the color or white/yellow options Another neat thing about this bulb was in the eufy app where I could set the option to pick up sound from my phone to activate the bulb to change colors very useful if you are having a party and last the one thing I was worried about was the bulb creating heat this bulb didn't create any heat and barely got warm My Youtube Review can be searched "eufy Lumos Smart Bulb By Anker DPNHTECH"

Beautifully designed standalone WiFi LED bul
Posted .Beautifully designed standalone WiFi LED light bulb with a range of tunable white color to match your mood that doesn't require a hub. From soft white to cool white. Eufy is made by Anker. Comes with a User Guide and for use with the EufyHome app to control it with remote access. Also controllable via voice with Alexa or Google Assistant. Download & install the app. Install the bulb with the power switch set to Off. Turn it on. The bulb will blink three times and at this point you can connect to it with the app so that it will always connect to your WiFi network. The process only took a couple of minutes. I than installed the EufyHome Skill within my Alexa app, logged in with my EufyHome credentials and can now voice control via my Alexa Echo Dot. Remote access can be achieved wirelessly anywhere your phone or tablet has Internet access. Brightness can be adjusted from 0-100%. Set schedules during the weekdays, weekends or all week. You can also manage a group of bulbs when you have more than one. You can also rename the bulbs for better identification. Tunable white tones can be adjusted to fit your mood or eye comfort from a soft warm glow to cool white (2700K - 6500K color temperature). The Lumos Smart LED Bulb is 9W and 800 Lumens (60W equivalent) which is bright enough for bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, offices, closets, etc. Recommended for it's energy efficiency, remote access, ease of use, value and ability to set schedules as well as voice control with Alexa / Google Assistant.

Excellent & reliable smart bulb at a great price!
Posted .I've had the white Lumos Smart Bulb by eufy for a few weeks now and love it! It's an awesome and really responsive smart bulb that's bright and has a really nice warm white color to it. It works with both Alexa and Google Home and is also pretty affordable when compared to others on the market. Be warned that it is larger than a standard light bulb. If you're considering buying this, make sure it's going to fit where you want to put it. Aside from the size of it, I really love this bulb and would love to add more to the house! The app paring did take a little tinkering to get setup. I think it took me two tries to get it paired and up and running. Once it was all set up it's worked flawlessly. Due to the size of it, I did end up moving it from my above the sink light fixture to the living room lamp where it fit so much better and brightens up the room nicely. It's fully dimmable (from 1% all the way to 100%) and is actually a feature I use pretty frequently. PROS: Very reliable, energy efficient, bright with a nice color of white, responsive, streamline, quick to turn on/off and dim CONS: Longer than a traditional light bulb, pairing could be a little easier Overall I would definitely recommend this if you're in the market for a smart bulb. Just check the location you want to use it in first to make sure it's going to fit that space. See some of the photos I've attached. I also included a photo of it in the light fixture above my sink. It was too large to put the globe back on it, which is why I moved it to my living room lamp.

Budget Friendly - Get Started With Smart Bulbs
Posted .I'm new to smart bulb technology this only my second smart bulb I've been able to get my hands on. So far I love it and plan on buying more so I can take advantage of the multi bulb grouping feature. Below is my experience with the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb - Tunable White. I found the light bulb to be heavier and longer than a standard LED light bulb. It still fits in the socket. Just keep in mind it might stick out of the fixture a little. The color range is impressive. The Soft White is great for reading after dark in a dark room. The Daylight Color is a true daylight color and not close to true daylight color (I've seen a few LED Bulbs have this issue). I also like being able to adjust the brightness output. Using the app I can adjust brightness from 1% to 100% in less than a second if the app is open. This isn't as fast as using a dimmer switch but with this bulb and other branded smart bulbs dimmer and 3 way switches do not work. To configure the smart bulb, follow the instructions in the paperwork or on the Eufy Sales Page. You will be able to configure on/off and how bright it is. You can create bulb groups to control multiple lights with the same settings. If you turn off the bulb at the power switch, you will not be able to turn it or use the scheduler. Once the bulb looses power, you will have to reconfigure the light settings. The brightness will stay the same but the color will go back to the default color of soft white. Everything works great, the schedule feature works and has only missed the schedule a few times. The first time was when the power had gone out before and stayed off until after the scheduled start time. The other time it missed the scheduled turn off time when I manually turned on the bulb earlier in the day. For some reason it doesn’t listen to the scheduled turn off time if the bulb is already on. Final Thoughts... The Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – Tunable White is great bulb. I find the option to switch from soft white to daylight a good feature. As much as I prefer daylight over other bulb color options there are times I want the soft white bulb. Whenever I want to change the color I just open the app and adjust the color to whatever I need it to be. My only issue is that at our house we have a lot of power issues (community power company is slow at maintaining the power lines and the trees that grow along the lines). Whenever the power goes out the light bulb turns on at 100%. This happens even if the bulb is off before the power went off. One night around 4 am the power went and came back on. It startled us out of deep sleep and it upset the dogs. This isn't cool and should be changed. Also you have to reset the color back to whatever you set it at. It resets back to the default soft white. If you do not make those changes, the scheduler won't read your color settings. There should be some memory built into the bulb/app so the user doesn't have to deal this making these changes. Keep in mind, once you convert a light fixture to a smart bulb you will have issues using the light switch. You basically remove the option to turn it if you have the app set to off (remember the power switch is always on even when you power off the bulb from the app). That means everyone in the house needs the app to use it or you need Alexia to turn it on and off by your voice outside of the scheduled hours. Its takes time to get use to this but we are getting use to it. ' Right now ours setup as a reading a lamp that isn't used much. We schedule to come on at dark and stay on until bed time. At some point we will get an Alexia device so we can easily control our smart devices. Why I rated the bulb with 5 starts even with a couple of annoying issues... The issues I came across are just annoying and after it happening a few times we got over this. It really isn't a big deal. The mentioned issues do not effect me from buying more of these bulbs. Even with those issues I highly recommend this bulb if you are looking for a smart daylight bulb this is the one to try out.

Great smart bulb at a good price
Posted .If you've been interested in trying a smart bulb, this is a great option. The Eufy Lumos A19 Multicolor bulb is a smart bulb that is similar to others you might be familiar with (such as Phillips Hue and LIFX), but what is unique about it is that it doesn't require a hub so you save a lot of money not having to invest in that upfront. It runs on wifi and is controlled through the Eufy Home app which you can use for any Eufy smart devices. The app is well-bult and easy to use. You can turn the bulb on and off, set schedules for when it turns on or off, change the color and brightness (of which there are apparently 16 million options) and you can save favorite lighting setups. There are also a lot of fun options like light cycling features and an option where your bulb will respond to music that is playing. If you buy multiple bulbs, you can also group them and control them together which is nice so you don't have to manually adjust each bulb everytime (unless you want to). The bulb is surprisingly heavy although this doesn't really matter since it screws into a light socket like any other lightbulb and feels very sturdy. In case you didn't know, Eufy is a sister company to Anker which produces a lot of great products (like battery packs, headphones, etc.) . This bulb comes with their an 18-month warranty and lifetime technical support. I've rarely, if ever, had any issues with their products, but when I have, they are always friendly and quick to resolve any problems.

A Great Smart Bulb Option
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe bulb was nicely packed and free of damage. It came with a Happy/Sad card and an instruction card. If you have any issues contact support they will help you out. At the bottom of the Eufy sales page is an FAQ section and below is supports contact info. After pulling the bulb out, I noticed that plastic white bulb was not properly installed. I was able to see the LED and circuit boards. Everything looked good (I forgot to take pictures) so I put the cover back on. Once it clicked home I couldn’t remove the lid. It may be removable but I was afraid I would break the top. I found the light bulb to be heavier and longer than a standard LED light bulb. It still fits in the socket. Just keep in mind it might stick out of the fixture a little. Scroll down the page to see the bulb installed in a ceiling fan light fixture. To configure the smart bulb, follow the instructions. You will be able to configure on/off and how bright it is. Or you can turn it on and off from the app. You can create bulb groups to control multiple lights with the same settings. If you turn off the bulb at the power switch, you will not be able to turn it or use the scheduler. Everything works great, the schedule feature works and hasn’t missed turning on or off. Using the on/off works as well. Its a little slower than simply using the switch on the fixture. If an issues comes up, I will update the review. However, the router went down for a little while and the scheduler missed it scheduled turn off time. So make sure your router is up and running if you plan to use the scheduler. As to the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White its a great option. But I prefer Daylight colored bulbs and not the soft white bulb this one is. For us, we are using this particular bulb in our night light. We set the bulb to come on at 1% usage at 10 pm and go off around 3 am. This way on the nights I have to work late I can get ready for bed without turning on lights and disturbing my wife. Pros: 1. Inexpensive 2. Easy to configure 3. Easy to operate 4. Scheduler 5. Works Alexa connected homes Con: 1. Adds another app to your smart phone 2. Doesn't have a dusk till dawn option 3. On the larger side I highly recommend this bulb if you do not need the daylight color bulb or the fancy color changing options you get on the other models available from Eufy.
Q: QuestionFor the lamp that this is screwed in to. When you click on the lamp using the regular switch, will the bulb turn on? Or can you only use the app or other wifi devices to activate the bulb?
Asked by JRdude411.
- A:Answer You can only use the app/wifi devices to activate the bulb. By keeping the light turned on, you'll have power to the bulb!
