Excellent for anime fans, or fans of a good story
This is a fantastic series, one of my new all-time favorites. As I've already stated, the story is phenomenal, and the characters are original, and some of the most deeply written I've seen in a while.
The story focuses on Yukiteru, a young man who is incredibly anti-social. To occupy himself, he has an imaginary friend, Deus. As it turns out, Deus is real, and he's the god of time and space. He is also dying, and needs to pick a successor to his throne. To this end, he decides to have a group of people engage in a free-for-all death match using "Future Diaries." These diaries grant each user a particular glimpse into the future, based on how they observe the world around them. I won't get much further into the story, except to say that the other main character, Yuno, provides so much mystery and tension throughout the story that it makes the entire series so painfully suspenseful because you can never pin down her motives, mostly because of how inherently unstable she is.
You still need box set 2 to finish the series, but I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good, original story, and original, well-conceived and acted characters.

Great anime to get into
Future diary is not for the faint of heart. It does have a love story and a lot of violence but the whole story about it comes together so perfectly that you wouldn't want it any other way. Pick this up
