Q: Does this have lane departure or notify you if you are getting too close to car in front of you
A: Yes, the Garmin DriveAssist uses camera-assisted driver awareness features and driver alerts to encourage safer driving and increase situational awareness. When your car is stopped at an intersection or in traffic, “Go” Alert notifies you when stopped traffic in front of you has started to move. Forward Collision Warning alerts if you’re driving too closely to the vehicle ahead
A: Yes it does have highways/tolls avoid option and yes to 3D map view. Resolution is 480 x 272, not positive on the internal storage but has option for up to 64GB Micro SD card.
Q: Does it have voice to tell how to get to you destination?
A: It talks to you and listens to you. The listening feature is one of the major features that influenced my purchase. I like the fact that I can speak a place, a saved location or a new address and it gives me options if it is not sure. I do not have to pull over and stop to touch screen the address or favorite, I just speak it. It does not like the radio on, others talking or the heat/ac fan on high speed - it gets confused. I lower the fan speed, mute the radio or turn it down and all is pretty good. You can change how it listens. I have Ford Sync so I needed a different command, not "Voice Command" or the car command would activate. This device allows you to change it. I have "Garmin Listen" when I speak a command. Also nice with this model, it gives you a reference point, such as turn right after the school, or turn left at the next street after the railroad tracks, continue .5 miles after the mall, etc. . .
A: It will start as long as your power source goes on and off as you start and stop your vehicle. I own 2 of these and the one that's in my van I need to unplug because my power source is always on.
Q: Does this model record sound and can play back?
A: No, it does not. It is for recording the drive and also for using it to detect lane drifts and forward collision etc. The video is clear but no audio. I would anyways not want to record music and our conversations.
Q: Does this gps have truck routes ??
A: Yes, the GPS will display truck routes.
A: You go to www.garmin.com and download their software Garmin Express. Install it, and then USB hook up your Garmin 50LM to your computer. Garmin Express will update your unit if there is new update available. Garmin usually has new update once every several weeks.
Q: Will the Bluetooth do hands free cell calls
A: Yes, If you have a cell phone that is compatible and will connect to the GPS by bluetooth. It was very easy to do with my Samsung Smart phone.
