Q: If the ice maker is factory installed, do I still need 2 buy a hose/ice maker kit? does the refrigerator need 2 b hooked up 2 plumbing for water supply? If not, how does the ice maker produce the ice? lastly, wire shelves? really? GE should know better.

A: Hello Valued Customer - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. This refrigerator has an ice maker and it will have to be connected to a cold water line in order for it to work properly. A water supply kit (containing copper tubing, shutoff valve, fittings, and instructions) is available at extra cost from your dealer. This refrigerator offers glass shelves in the fresh food section. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: want to know the size in inches to know if it fits

A: Hi Elena- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Top-Freezer Refrigerators! The approximate dimensions are (HxWxD) 66 5/8" x 29 1/2" x 34 1/4". For ease of installation and air clearance, allow 2" in back, 1" on top, and 1/8" on each side. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: Can the doors be reversed so that the refrigerator opens on the right side? Is this an energy star product?

A: Yes, the door on the refrigerator is reversible and it is Energy Efficient Tier I.

Q: I'm looking to replace my GE refrigerator with basically the same one I already have. It has lasted me 10 yrs and I think it's time for a new one. It already has a line for the ice maker. Can they use that on the new refrigerator?

A: Hello LindaJBP - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. This would be a great replacement refrigerator, especially if it is similar to the one you currently have. If you already have the water supply (copper tubing, shutoff valve, and fittings), then you should not need the water supply kit. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: Do you need a hose attachment to connect the ice maker?

A: Hi Margaret- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing! Yes, an icemaker water line kit is required. Recommended copper water supply kits are WX8X2, WX8X3 or WX8X4, depending on the amount of tubing you need. Approved plastic water supply lines are GE SmartConnect™ Refrigerator Tubing (WX08X10006, WX08X10015 and WX08X10025). Q: How much ice does this icemaker produce versus the 17.4 Cu. Ft model

A: Hi Joe- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! Our top-freezer refrigerators will produce approximately 70-100 cubes per day depending on the freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other use conditions. Thanks for checking with us!

Q: what is the noise level of this unit? How many db's

A: Decibels? I don't know, but it is not what I would call a noisy refrigerator. When the motor is running I can hear it from around 15 feet away but it is not very noticeable.
