Manual defrost appliances require unplugging to melt ice naturally, but offer more space, lower energy consumption, and lower cost without the internal heating element. Frost-free appliances regulate temperature to prevent ice build-up automatically. Automatic defrost systems use a timer to circulate heat and prevent ice accumulation, while adaptive defrost systems use sensors to determine the optimal times for heat circulation.)

Q: Does this refrigerator have an ice maker and does it have a light in the freezer? Also can the doors be switched to open to the left side>

A: No ice maker. I called Best Buy about how to get the optional ice maker, and was told that an ice maker was included, the option being to have it attached or not. I was given misinformation, as there was no ice maker, when the fridge was delivered. There is no light in the freezer. The door can be switched, to open on either side. My fridge was delivered with a damaged door. I am not planning to make a purchase like this again from Best Buy.

Q: what are the dimensions

A: Hi doug- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our GE Top- Freezer Refrigerators! The approximate overall dimensions are: (HxWxD) 66 3/4 in x 32 7/8 in x 34 in. Also, check our the Quick Specs online: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=gte21gsh_r2.pdf - Thanks for checking with us!

Q: How long we have to wait before pluing it and putting the stuff inside the fridge. I am getting a new one today.

A: Hi - Thanks for choosing GE Model GTE21GTHBB and welcome to the family! At initial startup both fresh food and freezer controls should be set at the normal setting or mid-point settings as indicated in your Owner's Manual. On average, it takes the refrigerator 24 hours to reach a stable temperature upon initial startup or each time the settings are changed on the temperature controls. If the refrigerator or the freezer is less than 3/4 (three-quarters) full or if the doors are opened frequently, it may take longer than 24 hours for the refrigerator's temperature to stabilize. You can also view the manual here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60726-3.PDF - We're glad to have you in the family. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Enjoy! Sue

Q: Does the snack/deli drawer be moved from left to right if you have to move the door to open the opposite direction?

A: Hi Edwards, Based on our research we are finding that you should not need to adjust any of the internal drawers if you are planning on reversing the door swing on your refrigerator. Once you reverse the door swing on your unit, you should be able to access the drawers on the interior as you would normally. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael

Q: is your color bisque the same as it was 10 or 12 years ago?

A: Hello. We have not changed the bisque color of our current appliances. Thanks for checking. Olga

Q: Does this come with leveling legs? Our kitchen floor is uneven and probably needs 4 leveling legs to make the refrigerator stable, not rock

A: Hello, this refrigerator comes with leveling legs. To see instructions on how to level this refrigerator, please see this link: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19144 You can also find more information on page 11 of the installation instructions for this refrigerator, found here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60726-3.PDF I hope this helps! -Chris

Q: How is the noise level on this refrigerator? Also is the white model magnetic?

A: Hi LC - Thanks for viewing GE! We do not rate the sound level of our refrigerators or freezers, which means we are unable to provide a decibel level while they are running. When the surrounding noise level is low you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound from the high efficiency compressor while it is operating. Room acoustics can affect the normal operating sounds that you may hear. Also, the white refrigerator doors are magnetic. It is compatible with optional Icemakers IM4D and IM4LED. In addition to making ice, IM4LED instantly adds bright LED lighting to your freezer compartment. We'd love to have you in the GE Appliances Family! Sue

Q: Is this fridge fingerprint resistant

A: Hi Daffy - Yes! Our Slate finish is fingerprint resistant. The rich matte appearance naturally hides fingerprints and smudges to maintain its beauty. Explore Slate: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/slate-appliances.htm - Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
