This laundry center features a 3.3 cu. ft. washer and a 5.9 cu. ft. dryer, so you can easily wash and dry large loads. Nine wash cycles and 4 dry cycles offer customized care for a variety of fabrics.
Q: 3.3 cubic ft.=how many pounds of laundry/load?
A: Hello, This is Nancy from GE and I am happy to help you. This is a wonderful extra-large capacity washer. We avoid the use of pounds as a rating system for washer capacity because a washer is not limited in practical terms by the weight of clothes it can wash. It is limited by the volume of clothes that can be put into the machine. For example, one comforter might fill up the entire machine but weigh very little, while blue jeans are heavier but a smaller load. When filling the washer, we recommend dropping the clothes into the basket and not pushing them down. The clothes have to be able to move around. Huge, stuffed loads won't wash well. I hope this is helpful. Thank you for contacting GE!
Q: How much room do you need between the wall and the unit?
A: Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This unitized spacemaker combination washer/dryer unit is 30-7/8" deep. The minimum clearances between the dryer cabinet and adjacent walls or other surfaces are: 0" on either side and rear and 1" on the front and top. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
A: Hello, I certainly understand your desire to continue using your washer. We cannot recommend this type of modification of your appliance, as it could void any warranty. We also have not tested it in this application. Maybe you could sell it, and use the proceeds towards a new unit. The unitized models are very easy to sell. Good luck. Lisa from GE.
A: The dryer vent is centered in the middle of the unit. Above the washer and just below the dryer on the back. The whole W/D unit has to be about 8-10 inches from the wall to accommodate the bend in the dryer hose from the unit and at the vent. The water hoses it comes with are not high pressure hoses so you might purchase those ahead of the install. I happened to have them attached to the old washer I had so they reused them..
Q: Can I change which side the door opens from?
A: No. It opens Left to right.
Q: Does it need 110 or 220 power?
A: 220.
A: Hi-this is Sue from GE. We appreciate your interest in our GE Unitized Spacemaker® Washer/Dryer Unit. Most electric dryer power cords are sold separately to ensure that they comply with all state and local wiring codes. Since it is not possible to anticipate the final destination of a dryer as it leaves the assembly line and install the proper cord, the local dealer usually has these available for purchase or you can order by calling GE Parts at 800.626.2002. You will need to purchase a UL Rated 120/240V 30A Appliance Power Cord Kit with 3or 4 prongs. Identify the plug type as per the house receptacle before purchasing the line cord. They are generally available in 4, 5 or 6 ft. lengths. Thanks for checking with us!
