It Does What It Is Supposed to Do!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not want this type of combo machine but didn't have space for a side by side. It is very hard to get things in and out of the washing machine tub. There is little room between the door and the tub. It has very few choices for the laundry cycles and the drying cycles. The washing machine top locks on some cycles so I can't check anything and it stops agitating if I open the top for any reason on other cycles. The dryer seems to work just fine. Small lint trap and when it stops and I open the door, the dry laundry flies out. So far I have not had any problems (like other reviewers have mentioned) but I've only been using it for 2 weeks. It makes sounds I have never heard any machine make. I have no way of knowing if this is normal or not. On one cycle switch, it grinds and jerks. Maybe time for a service checkup?? It is very pricey for such small capacities. I only own this machine because I have to.

Great Space Saver Laundry Center
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laundry center fits well in my limited space. The washer has several settings into auto sensing water fill. The unit does not agitate like older models but rather pulses the clothes which prevents unnecessary stretching and rough treatment of fabrics. It's a different sound but you get used to it. The dryer (which sounds like a dryer!) also has several settings and has a big drum so clothes move freely for a more speedy drying time. Very satisfied with the purchase as well as the buying process. They honored a lower price I found in my pre-purchase research. The store associate I worked with, Rick was really helpful, not in a hurry, had a great sense of humor and scheduled the delivery date and ensured that everything was in order before I left. The delivery team was on time, had shoe covers and were very knowledgeable about the install. Thanks for a good buying experience BEST BUY...a rarity these days! I'll be back!

Noisy but works like a charm!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Traded up from a smaller unit where I could only do one thing at a time: wash or dry. This one, however does both and while the washer is very noisy, it does both the washing and drying extremely well! It's BIG though. It compares to a full size washer and dryer. Very happy with my purchase.

Posted .Hello YVguy - this is Nancy at GE. We are glad you like your new laundry center and appreciate your comments. If the unit is noisy while it is washing, you may want to verify all of the shipping material was removed from the washer and that it is level. I hope this helps! Thanks for choosing GE!

Horrible product. Did not last even half the year.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The spin cycle on this unit is horrible. It stopped working after less than one year. Customer service and technicians are both less than satisfactory. I've had 3 service calls and the washing machine still does not work. I now need to replace this unit with an entirely different make and model. An appliance should last more than 6 months. Stay away from this product.

NOT BUILT TO LAST OUT OF WARRANTY!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I could give it 0 stars I would. 1 month out of warranty the washer starts blinking and will not wash/ drain or anything for that matter. Called a tech who couldn't recommend fixing the washer due to the part ( ) costing over $400 with the addition of a service fee he would have to charge. He also mentioned that at his latest GE training, GE 's own instructor said he wouldn't buy the product. Even before the board went out , though, we were unhappy with the machine. I've never used a machine that was so hard on clothes. We could have gotten used to the extreme noise it made had it cleaned our clothing properly. I find it incredibly sad that appliances aren't made to last anymore. Since the the units are attached, We are faced with replacing both washer and dryer just a month over a year from purchase! We Learned an expensive and hard lesson! I usually don't take the time to write reviews but in this situation I feel like it would be wrong for anyone else to purchase this worthless combo under the false pretense that GE is a quality brand. At the time of purchase there were positive reviews but be weary of reviews made just after purchase....they haven't had time go get to know the product. Upon breaking, i've now found many other customers with the same exact story. I hope Best Buy discontinues selling junk and begins reviewing the quality of the products they sell. Both GE and Best Buy lost a once loyal customer because of this deal.

Q: Question3.3 cubic ft.=how many pounds of laundry/load?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hello, This is Nancy from GE and I am happy to help you. This is a wonderful extra-large capacity washer. We avoid the use of pounds as a rating system for washer capacity because a washer is not limited in practical terms by the weight of clothes it can wash. It is limited by the volume of clothes that can be put into the machine. For example, one comforter might fill up the entire machine but weigh very little, while blue jeans are heavier but a smaller load. When filling the washer, we recommend dropping the clothes into the basket and not pushing them down. The clothes have to be able to move around. Huge, stuffed loads won't wash well. I hope this is helpful. Thank you for contacting GE!

Q: QuestionHow much room do you need between the wall and the unit?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This unitized spacemaker combination washer/dryer unit is 30-7/8" deep. The minimum clearances between the dryer cabinet and adjacent walls or other surfaces are: 0" on either side and rear and 1" on the front and top. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: QuestionWe have an 18 month old Model GTUP270EMOWW unitized unit that has worked quite well. We have moved to a new home that has natural gas, but no 240 VoltWe would like to continue to use the washing machine component of the unitized set. The question is: Can we have our electrician internally disconnect the upper Electric Dryer component of the unitized set and replace the 240 Volt plug with a 120 Volt plug to allow continued use of the lower Washing Machine component?
Asked by J Henry.
- A:Answer Hello, I certainly understand your desire to continue using your washer. We cannot recommend this type of modification of your appliance, as it could void any warranty. We also have not tested it in this application. Maybe you could sell it, and use the proceeds towards a new unit. The unitized models are very easy to sell. Good luck. Lisa from GE.

Q: Questioncan you tell me exactly how high the dryer vent is on the back and where it is located relative to the middle of the unit. I am installing a ventThe reason is because I am building a house and need to know exactly where the vent is regarding height and if it is off center on the back. This is needed because I need to vent it out of the house and the room that it is in is in front of a shower, so it has to be vented above the shower and it is important to know exactly where the back vent is on the machine
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The dryer vent is centered in the middle of the unit. Above the washer and just below the dryer on the back. The whole W/D unit has to be about 8-10 inches from the wall to accommodate the bend in the dryer hose from the unit and at the vent. The water hoses it comes with are not high pressure hoses so you might purchase those ahead of the install. I happened to have them attached to the old washer I had so they reused them..

Q: QuestionNo power cord? How do I get a power cord for this? How much?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi-this is Sue from GE. We appreciate your interest in our GE Unitized Spacemaker® Washer/Dryer Unit. Most electric dryer power cords are sold separately to ensure that they comply with all state and local wiring codes. Since it is not possible to anticipate the final destination of a dryer as it leaves the assembly line and install the proper cord, the local dealer usually has these available for purchase or you can order by calling GE Parts at 800.626.2002. You will need to purchase a UL Rated 120/240V 30A Appliance Power Cord Kit with 3or 4 prongs. Identify the plug type as per the house receptacle before purchasing the line cord. They are generally available in 4, 5 or 6 ft. lengths. Thanks for checking with us!
