Q: What are the BTUs when this unit is converted to LP Gas
A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in the GE Freestanding Double Oven Gas Range model JGB850SEFSS. Yes, Using LP (liquid propane) gas instead of natural will lower the BTU* output, thus slowing the cooking process. The main reason is simply when converting to LP gas from Natural gas you use a reduced size orifice. LP is a heavier fuel to combust, and the reduced orifices are used in order to prevent large flames and soot issues. As a result, BTU rating does decrease noticeably on the larger burners but is not as noticeable on the smaller burners.
