My wife and I looked at various replacement ovens (as a replacement for our 17-year old GE oven). We took over six-months, winding up picking this one out of many choices. We love the double oven capacity, the griddle in the middle option, the control panel, and ease of use all make for a winning combination.

Great, with one big exception

The top oven burns everything that has a crust or is small. Cookies, pizza, muffins ect. It burns the bottom black. If you read a lot of reviews of people who have used it for those reasons, you get the same complaint. It appears to be a design issue, which means there isn't much you can do about it. An oven, especially an expensive one should work properly

QuestionHow big of a turkey can fit in the lower oven?Love the idea of the double ovens as I do cook a lot but am a bit nervous to make the switch. One of my concerns is for when we do cook as large a bird as possible for our extended family.

QuestionWhat are the BTUs when this unit is converted to LP GasI asked this once and the question/answer was not posted. I understand there is a loss when converting and have read it is about 30% which is still better than the LG stove I plan to return

- Answer Hello, Thank you for your interest in the GE Freestanding Double Oven Gas Range model JGB850SEFSS. Yes, Using LP (liquid propane) gas instead of natural will lower the BTU* output, thus slowing the cooking process. The main reason is simply when converting to LP gas from Natural gas you use a reduced size orifice. LP is a heavier fuel to combust, and the reduced orifices are used in order to prevent large flames and soot issues. As a result, BTU rating does decrease noticeably on the larger burners but is not as noticeable on the smaller burners.
