A large, continuous cooking surface gives you extra room for pots and pans of all sizes and lets cookware move easily from burner to burner. Boil water fast with intense heat from the 18,000 BTU burner. A large oval fifth burner is ideal for griddle or odd-size cookware.
A: After three years, the metal sheet covering the plastic started peeling off the knobs due to exposure to the heat from the oven. It started at the bottom of the knobs above the oven. We contacted GE directly and they sent us new knobs for free. These are cheap plastic and terrible for use in an appliance that uses high heat. The replacements are plastic as well, so we take the knobs off when using the oven, which is really inconvenient. We could not find any knobs that are all metal and don't want to ruin these because we may not get another set at no charge and they are not cheap to purchase. Really poor quality and we are very disappointed in GE, but I think all the manufactures are using plastic knobs now.
A: Hi LaurenP - When preheating, the oven's temperature display will show "100F" or "PrE" for preheat. It has an audible preheat signal. Many newer ranges have a Preheat that will signal when the oven has reached a temperature hot enough to add food, rather than when the set temperature is reached. Typically the range will signal after about 7-12 minutes, depending of the temperature you set. We test our ranges with prepackaged foods, frozen pizzas, baked goods, etc. We put the items in at the beep, and get good results. This can help save time in the kitchen, since you are not waiting longer for the preheat than necessary, in most cases. Recipes can differ, as can a food's preheat requirements. Most foods we tested don't require additional oven heating, though there are always exceptions. If you're finding a recipe isn't cooking properly, then you may want to turn on the oven a little bit before you start your food preparation to give it a little more time. You can also remove unused racks when using the oven for faster preheat, improved efficiency, and optimal performance. Keep in touch! Sue

Q: Are the knobs on the front of the stove made of plastic or metal?
A: Plastic. I washed them with dish soap and water and 4 of 5 of them, the phony finish disintegrated! Now I have white plastic knobs with no markings on them!
A: Our stove came with a 110v preattached power cord. The power cord is approximately 3 feet. It comes with orafice parts to have stove changed from natural gas to lp if needed.
Q: Is the over a gas-operated or electric-operated?
A: Hello Jini - Thank you for your interest; we are happy to help! The oven is gas-operated, however, it requires electricity to ignite gas. We hope this helps. Thanks for checking. Olga
Q: What are the knobs made of? Are they plastic? Been reading that they melt, is that right?
A: Hi - The stainless steel appearance knobs are a durable electroplated plastic designed for use around heat so melting would not be considered normal. Gas ranges are designed specifically for closed door broiling and produce optimal broiling results. When broiling in gas ranges, you should keep the door closed for safety reasons. You should also use closed-door broiling when cooking in a range with knobs or controls above the door. This keeps the knobs from getting too hot or from getting damaged by the extended periods of high heat. Keep in touch! Sue
