GE Front Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub, 48 dBA
Installed in our office kitchen. Pretty good washer when you use the sanitizer function, Top silver wear tray does not always get forks or spoons clean if it is fully loaded. So quiet we had to put a sign on to tell people not to open when running to load additional dishes.
Drying function draws a lot of amps, had to put in a dedicated circuit.
I cannot even tell you what a fiasco this dishwasher caused. The start button quit working. Had the techs come and found out there was a short in one of the circuit boards. Instead of trying to figure out which one was the culprit, they ordered all 3 to replace. GE took over 3 months to send the parts. So when I called The techs to come install, I was told I now had to go thru GE. I called them, arranged to have someone come out to fix it. Well no one showed. This happened 3-4 more times over the course of 6 months (now keep in mind I’d already been waiting 5 months by the time the parts got here). So now I’m into the 11th month of having this dishwasher and the warranty has 1 month left and still no working dishwasher. Fed up, I finally called Best Buy and explained the entire situation and within a week, I had a brand new dishwasher. Kudos to Best Buy for resolving this issue when GE refused to help. After experiencing what I have with GE, I will NEVER purchase another one of their appliances. This ordeal has soured me completely toward them and their crappy customer service. Buyers beware! As long as your appliance is working, everything will be great. But if you have to deal with GE directly, be prepared to be put off for months and months, being lied to about supposed tech appointments, and to deal with very unreasonable management decisions when it comes to a faulty product. Also, my purchase date on this dishwasher was 9/27/19. Issue resolved 8/31/20.
I bought this dishwasher and I do love it, the only downside is that it did not have everything to complete install with it. I had to go to a local hardware store to buy a $5 3/4 to 3/8 compression elbow. Really annoying.
While not the quietest one in the market it’s significantly quieter than the one we replaced. Nice looking and does a great job. Wash cycles are longer than our previous GE model but the dishes are completely dry now. Glad we purchased this one.
A:AnswerHi Jeff - Thanks for choosing GE® Dishwasher GDF645SMNES! This model has an audible end-of-cycle signal. The dishwasher will emit a sound to indicate cycle completion, button presses, and door ajar. Opening the door after the cycle will cancel the signal. Also, to turn the dishwasher control sounds ON/OFF (mute), press the Dry Boost pad 7 times within 5 seconds. For reference, see pages 9 and 22 of the Use and Care Manual at this link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-4000214.pdf - If you interrupt or pause a cycle, the dishwasher will beep every minute to remind you to close the door. To restart or resume the cycle, press Start, and close the door within 4 seconds. To cancel a wash cycle, press and hold the Start pad for 3 seconds and close door. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. We are always eager to help! Sue
A:AnswerHi Rohold - Model GDF645SGNBB uses 2.4 to 6.6 gallons. The amount of water used in our dishwashers has been significantly lowered over the years. Changes have been made to continually make the dishwashers more efficient. Different models vary in the number of gallons used in the different cycles. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
A:AnswerHi lowgman - Thanks for considering GE Model # GDF645SGNBB. We certainly appreciate your loyalty! This model has a hidden vent with fan assist. This is found on all models without a visible vent on the front. The vent is concealed inside the dishwasher door. This provides a clean appearance, seals in sound during the wash cycle, and protects against venting damage to countertops such as Corian or granite. Air is pulled from the tub with an efficient 10 watt fan. The fan drives the moist air down a condensation tube, where any remaining drops of moisture are released within the door to a moisture proof trough in the lower inner door. By the time the moisture reaches this part of the door, the moisture has been reduced to a few drops. Moisture then drains back into the bottom of the tub and away from the dish load. We're glad to have you in the family. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
