    Awesome 3-way Switch

    I created an account with BestBuy just to sing the praises of this switch. This switch was perfect, but you have to know what you're getting into. Know your wiring before you order this switch. If using as a single switch make sure you have a white wire (neutral# in the outlet box. If you have more than one switch, check to see if your wiring in the boxes can be used #there are multiple solutions that will work#. Most important, if you have more than one switch controlling a light make sure you buy an add-on switch for the other switches in that group. Here's what it looks like: . Directions fro the add on switch can also be found at this website. If you're not sure about the wiring take a pic of the box with the switches pulled out #after turning off the breakers!) and ask an electrician friend. Be aware that the wiring scheme will be changed. I was prepared before I even ordered it and wiring was a snap. Pairing to my Wink hub was a breeze and it works perfect.     Good But could be better


    Installation was fairly straight forward except that you need to purchase a second GE switch for 3 and 4 way installs and this will not work with any old 3 way. They should tell you that on the product page. Also you should be aware this thing is 1.5 inches deep and i needed to get a larger gang box for the switch to fit in it. also sometimes there is a tiny bit of lag between hitting the switch and the lights responding. It is not annoying to me but it is not instant like a regular switch. Some might find this a little annoying. I installed this to pair to Time Warner Cable's Intelligent Home system that uses zigbee. Pairing it was very easy and the touchscreen picked it up almost instantly with no issues.

    That big DOH moment when I realized we needed a hub moments after installation. We had planned to go out of town and needed it installed and working before than. Installation was easy, for the husband anyway and after we received our Hub the item worked amazing. Have it set for dusk and dawn settings as my boy dog seems to think if the lights off outside when he's out there, that he's not allowed in, or maybe he just couldn't find the door, and will whine til I get up and open the door for him, my girl is a little smarter, either way it works, even with my phone off. Took only seconds to sync and now we don't worry about turning on and off the lights for the dogs when we're out.

    One morning my husband left early for work, my dog was outside and the husband turned the outside light off. I heard whining, got up to investigate and found my dog outside. I don't know if he coudn't find the doggie door or just thought he had to stay outside just because it was dark. Right than I decided to get a smart switch. One thing I failed to notice thru out the reviews was that it needed a hub. So one hub later it worked great. Well mostly great. It failed to turn on once or twice so far but if I'm away from home, I can just check the hub app and it'll tell me if it's on or not for my goofy dog and tic the on button thru the app. No big.

    Ive bought three of these for my house. I plan to purchase a few more. They sync very easily and installation is simple. The installation takes less than 5 minutes with a basic screwdriver. One note before buying you must have 2 Black Wires, 1 White Neutral Wire and 1 Copper Ground. It does require all 4 wires to function properly.

    I have quite a few of these in my home. They are good switches and seem to work reliably. Or they did before Smartthings crapped the bed with the v2 release. Fortunately these seem to work with quite a few different systems so I'll be able to reuse them when I upgrade to a better hub. Easy to install and they look very nice as well.

    2nd replacement switch


    Works great with the SmartThings app but turning on and off manually stopped working again., I have replaced it already once but after 40 days I am going to have to replace again. So far this ZigBee switch is junk.

    The installation instructions are not overly clear if you have other than a normal outlet. Also it does not specify that you must tap in the neutral wire in order for it to function. Other than that this is an awesome light switch.
