- A: AnswerThe new Nest Doorbell (2nd gen, wired) needs to be powered by wires delivering 16 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA (in North America) or 12 - 24 V AC and at least 8 VA (in Europe). While the Nest doorbell can replace most wired doorbells, there are some cases where the doorbell system, including doorbell wires, either doesn’t give enough power or gives too much power. In some homes, you may need to upgrade your transformer to meet the doorbell's higher power requirements. However, some doorbell systems are incompatible like a traditional doorbell system that uses very little power, so it’s important to make sure that the wires and transformer (power supply) meets the required amount of power so the doorbell can record videos.

Knock knock who's there? I already know who is
The Nest doorbell wired camera is awesome. The installation with the step by step instructions are very detailed and is easy to follow. The camera is very sensitive it was picking up vehicle movement at a great distance. It also picked up an firework going off at 12/31/2022 see the attached picture. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Quality Doorbell; Easily Connects to Wifi
I replaced a Skybell video doorbell with the Nest doorbell and couldn't be happier. It was easy to install and program with our Nest display and speakers. Unlike the Skybell, this doorbell easily connects to Wifi and easily reconnects after Wifi is restored. The video quality and sound are good. I used the included wedge to angle the doorbell toward the street, which provides a better
