I had this movie on DVD for years and just had to get it on blu ray. Anthony Hopkins is on of the best when it comes to playing Hannibal Letcher. The man is crazy. You must see Silence of the Lamb first.

Silence of the lambs was one of those rare films that was perfect all the way around. perfect adaption from the Thomas Harris novel, perfect direction, perfect action (especially Hopkins and Foster) and is still regarded as one of the best psychological horror films ever made. when Harris followed up his best seller with a sequel entitled Hannibal, it was a much more darker and graphic book with a downbeat unbelievable ending. having read the book which was awesome, the movie, while not bad, left out more of the more gut wrenching (pun intended) scenes and a subplot which i felt was important. also left out was out to not anger the movie audience. Jodie Foster declined to come back having been told the books ending was going to be in the movie citing it was not something Starling would ever do. while hopkins is still great as lector, Julianne Moore is not Clairece Starling. Ridley Scott did do the best he could but it just wasnt quite good enough. had the studio had more balls and went full on book, it would of been a much more powerful and disturbing film. 4 stars since its descent but not the original.

Hannibal finally gets a proper blu ray courtesy of KL. Most of the special features that were featured on the original DVD release are here. One thing I wish Ridley Scott would have done was edit most of the deleted scenes back into the film. Still I cannot complain too much. I am thankful we received this classic on blu ray at all.
