I bought this instrument because I didn't want to take my solid one on the road to practice with. I figured this would make a good substitute and if I lost it or broke it along the way it wouldn't hurt my wallet too much. It turns out, I practice on this one at home more than the nicer one. Since it is more durable and much cheaper it is left laying around quite often, making it an easy choice for a spontaneous practice session. Because it has a beautiful ring to it, these spontaneous supposedly short sessions become long ones. Because it is easy on the fingers it is quite easy to play for long sessions. When the practice session ends....well... the cycle begins again.
I rated the craftsmanship as good and not excellent because there are traces of glue around/in the ukulele that the person assembling it didn't care to wipe away before it dried. I know it's a small thing, and it does't affect the sound at all. Perhaps if there were a "very good" or "great" rating, I would have chosen that. For this price range I don't expect perfection in crafstmanship.
Overall, this ukulele is an excellent choice for this price range. I find that I'm practicing more now that I have this low maintenance ukulele. It is a great sounding beautiful ukulele. It has exceeded my expectations and when this one becomes unusable for whatever reason, I'm planning on buying this model again. I strongly recommend it to others.

I bought these because they were on closeout; the quality is what you would expect from an inexpensive instrument. They were bought so our foster kids can learn to play. For that, they are perfect. I bought two of these kits. One instrument's wood is a lot nicer than the other. They are both just straight plain grained.
The big negatives for me are two items: 1. the electronic clamp-on tuner for one of the instruments was bad. 2. The instruments do not stay in tune very long (compared to my older 3 Ukes I have at home). But this could either be either the cheap strings they installed or a bad instrument. Time will tell as the new strings continue to break in for a few weeks.

This ukulele is great. The price was even better. It was on sale 50% off. I have been looking to buy a ukulele and found this in Bestbuy on sale. I am a beginner and this ukulele is just right. The sound and quality is very good. It is a joy to play with this instrument.

I bought this for my wife as sort of a funny gift, but it turned out to have a very nice sound. She loves it, and has enjoyed it immensely.

Maybe I got a bad one but this Hohner Kohala ukulele was poorly made with a few defects and the overall quality just wasn't very good. The price of $49.99 was still too much money for this because of the defects and the bad quality.
I was surprised to see Best Buy would sell such poorly made products.
I hope those who might be looking to purchase this ukulele would shop around and spend the extra money to get a better made ukulele then this one. Hope this helps.
