Q: Does this unit filter out mold & mildew spores. Can it help with a musty odor from the basement.
A: Yes it does. The musty smell is reason I purchased this unit and it works. And the mold was also reason to buy it too.
Q: How much electricity does this use, either amps or watts?
A: The sticker on the bottom of the unit lists the voltage as 120 Volts and the current as 1.10 Amperes, so the energy consumed would be 132 Watts. That would be at the highest fan speed. The two lower fan speeds would consume less energy. The lights and control circuitry would consume minimal energy.
Q: Never had an air purifier before, was wondering is it like a fan? Does it blow cool air?
A: I have my central air set at 76 degrees and in Arizona, with temperatures over the century mark most of the time, I need a central ceiling fan to circulate the cool air. With the addition of the air purifier which blows that air out the top after filtering it. I feel that moving air always feels cool. The unit is not a cooler. It is a filter and purifier. It certainly helps circulate the purified air around the room which in turn is like a soft clean, fresh breeze.
