    Synopsis

    Hoodwinked
Forget everything you know about Little Red Riding Hood; the classic fairy tale gets a new look and a new style in this computer-animated comedy for the whole family. Grizzly (voice of Xzibit) and Stork (voice of Anthony Anderson) are a pair of critter cops who have been called the homey bungalow of Granny (voice of Glenn Close) to investigate a disturbance of the peace. It seems there was an altercation involving Granny, her granddaughter Little Red Riding Hood (voice of Anne Hathaway), a Big Bad Wolf (voice of Patrick Warburton), and a Woodsman (voice of Jim Belushi). However, as the detectives interview the participants and get each individual's perspective, they learn that Granny isn't so helpless, Red may have been doing more than just visiting relatives, the Wolf isn't the predator he's been cracked up to be, and the Woodman doesn't have much of an intellectual advantage over the trees he chops down. Hoodwinked also features the voice talents of Andy Dick, David Ogden Stiers, and Chazz Palminteri. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The movie opens up at the climax of the supposed rescue from the wolf of Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother by the woodcutter, but quickly the police (who jump to conclusions following the traditional story line) and a detective frog (who is good at investigating and getting the details) arrive on the scene. Each person gives their version of what happened from their point of view. The wolf was NOT the guilty party...but I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it. This is a great movie to show how our understanding of situations will change once we have all the facts. I think this movie can be a great educational tool for teaching people how to write creatively. It even has applications to real life on the importance of not jumping to conclusions. I highly recommend it.

One of my favorite kids movies growing, and even as an adult, I still love it. Animation is fun and engaging, the story is very entertaining, and the film features a stellar voice cast. I was happy to get this item at Best Buy because it came as described for a really affordable, cheap cost. Totally recommend purchasing at Best Buy if you are looking for a fun family film for an upcoming movie night.

When we reach the point of being at Grandma's house with the wolf disguised as Grandma in her bed when Little Red Riding Hood arrives followed soon after by the woodcutter, it is so easy to lay the blame on the wolf until a wise frog has each person tell his story. Suddenly the fingers are no longer pointing at the wolf as the guilty party. The story is cleverly done and an excellent teaching tool with children if you take the time to pause the movie at strategic moments and talk about what is happening.

Hoodwinked is one of our favorite movies to watch again and again. The story is well paced with comedy (the snarky comments and asides are written for adults but most children with follow most of the humor), action and just good old fun. The story updates the Red Riding Hood tale as she sets out to find the goody bandit whose been closing down the forrest goody shops. I won't give out any details so you'll just have to watch it!

While this isn't as clever or smart as a Pixar movie, it is a lot of fun. My 8year old loves it -- it's one of his favorite movies -- and it's got enough wit and humor so it's not too hard for me to sit through either. Definitely underrated and one of the better animated movies of recent years.

Overall, I was very pleased with this movie. As far as animated films go, its definitely one of my favorites. Its a movie that the whole family can enjoy. Plus, it has some recognizable actors and actresses providing their voices. My favorite parts of the movie include the wolf and squirrel.
