A: There are no batteries, it is a wired mouse using a USB connection. Excellent Mouse.
A: In theory, yes, although it's not like the old rollerball mice that you had to periodically clean out. While it doesn't list them specifically, almost all mice have screws (usually under the foot pads).
Q: are the buttons on the side supposed to be lose and flimsy? or did i get a defective one?
A: Mine has a nice click to them, they are a bit softer on the feel than the dpi button or pressing down the mouse wheel but I wouldn't call them flimsy. I would exchange it.
