After purchasing three at BB and a couple elsewhere, all which were returned because of various issues, I saw this one pop up on the BB site as "New". I had been considering a desktop but I don't like the clutter of wires, speakers etc. After trying the Spectra, the Omen, the new Envy and a few other models, and reading, reading, reading about computers...I decided this was the one I wanted.
Why? It has all the specs I need. I'm an author and a mega multitask user. I always have Word up, Gmail, and social media sites up, as well as book files open, cover files open (and those are very large). So I needed a device that could handle everything I give it. OH, and I also like to play music while writing. So my computer works hard.
Every other unit overheated within the first hour, or froze up on me. I was nervous about trying another one, but my old HP is exhausted and outdated. This comes with FOUR USB ports! One on the side for easy access, and three in the back. It has HDMI in and out. A headphone jack and another type of USB port that is small oval shape. It has a popup camera and you can take selfies with your computer! That's super cool because I can't get my dog to pose for a selfie as she hates the camera. Now I can sneak on in on her.
Other features I love. This computer sounds awesome!!! It looks great, clean and neat. I have mine on an adjustable table because I am unable to sit at a desk these days, so I sit in my recliner to type with a keyboard on my lap, mouse at my side. The mouse does NOT have a USB connector, it's just automatically synced to the computer as is the keyboard. Keyboard is small but solid! Does not slide when typing with one hand, and it has a separate PRINT SCREEN key! None of the other PCs I bought had that. A PC key is important to me as I use it often.
The mouse is a bit shallow but not too tiny, average and the cursor is tight and accurate. The picture is incredible. I watched a church service last night and actually could tell what color the pastor's eyes are! I've been watching him for years and never knew. The clarity/contrast/sharpness are impressive. And at over 23 inches this is the best monitor I've yet seen. We have a Samsung monitor on the other desktop and it's good but this one is better.
OH, this has the regular SD card slot!!! None of the other computers I bought had that either, they were all micro. All my cards are full size. So that's a huge plus. Very easy to use an adapter if you want to use micro SD, but this one does take the SDHC size.
The only con I can think of ATM is the ports in the back are not easy to reach from the front, so you must get up to put your SD card in, or reach under and back and feel around. A minor thing.
As far as internal features, everything is updated. Speed is fast! But for gaming, I'd probably not recommend. I play low key games, not the stuff most people play as I am older. I needed a computer with speed for tasking. I notice the colors on my Farmville game are heavily saturated, so if you're a gamer, you might want to check YouTube for visuals on the graphics. This has integrated graphics.
I'm not extremely computer savvy and I found this very easy to set up. Had a little trouble understanding the toggle button on back right, but we figured it out, it's a separate button to adjust the picture like you'd have on a TV.
For watching movies, this thing rocks! For tasking and loading programs...amazing! Appearance is phenomenal. I don't get company but if I did, I'm sure they'd be impressed by the style and neat appearance. And their mouth would probably drop open if I played a movie for them! I could see the pimples on people's faces in the audience! LOL. It's just that clear. I felt as if I were sitting in the church with everyone.
So if you're looking for a desktop with no clutter that has all the speed and storage, this is it! I've had multiple programs running and haven't heard a fan kick on once. YAY!!!
Beautiful computer with everything I need. Media player built in. Also has another music app built in. Huge calculator, huge calendar. I sit about three feet away and can see everything just fine. The web cam thing pops down and up. Have not used it yet except to take one selfie. I like that it pops back down.
Dropbox is installed and I was able to install Nook with no trouble! Very easy to use. Settings seems easy to find except screensaver, I had trouble finding it but eventually did. That's a windows thing, though. As far as this computer goes, one of the plus that helped my decision is that it's a new model so there were NO reviews. The bad reviews make choosing a unit very difficult. And, I noticed that the HP All-in-ones were selling out fast and that have mostly great reviews. I hope this one lasts me a long time because I do not like change.
