Q: what's the advantage of the mSATA SSD?
A: Great question. Like a memory stick, there are no moving parts to an SSD. Rather, information is stored in microchips. Conversely, a hard disk drive uses a mechanical arm with a read/write head to move around and read information from the right location on a storage platter. This difference is what makes SSD so much faster. mSATA just means that it is for a mobile device. SATA is for desktops. All Spectre laptops that have an SSD are mSATA. Some of the models specify that information and others don't. I hope this helps.
Q: Was this laptop discontinued? If so why? It seems to be more recent than other Spectres 13 inch.
A: This was my big question it seems this is a special best buy product..I called HP...the next gen is being released and they only sell this one via Best Buy..It is not refurbished or defective as far a I can tell...just a special offer...look at the price this is better quality for a lower price..

Q: Would the 256 GB hard drive be too little memory for an average College student?
A: Depends on your major. If you're in computer science or graphics, probably not. I had a 256 hard drive all throughout college as a chem major writing reports all the time; I burnt through about half.
