Secure your phone and take clearer pictures with this Insignia tripod. It is designed for a variety of phones up to 5.5-inch screens, and it includes a Bluetooth remote control so that you can take images at a distance — ideal for selfies. This Insignia tripod folds up compactly for ease of transport.
If you're looking for a cell phone tripod with bendy-flexible legs, a Bluetooth remote cell phone camera shutter button with an included battery and you're on a budget, then the Insignia Tripod & Bluetooth Shutter package is for you.
Here, Best Buy (maker of Insignia products) has created a cheap alternative to the popular-but-pricey Joby GorillaPod Magnetic Tripod with Ivation Wireless Bluetooth Camera Shutter Remote Control package though the Insignia packge does not feature a magnetic base.
The Insignia Tripod fails in only one category: It is not designed to hold your cell phone in portrait mode while you snap your selfies. It's designed for landscape photography only - but since the Insignia Tripod is a bendy-legged beast, you can twist it into a pretzel shape, which will successfully hold your phone upright for portrait-style photography.
The overall Tripod package, once unboxed, screams no-frills, cheap but functional, all at once. Turn on the remote shutter via a switch on the side and a blinking light lets you know its ready to pair with your phone. The round, black remote shutter is very straightforward in its operation - it even features a short lanyard, and its range is reasonable - in general, a nice addition to the Tripod package.
The Insignia Tripod is made of durable black plastic, foam rubber and metal. The collapsible, spring-loaded, plastic clamping mechanism which holds your cell phone should fit easily around most phone cases - my Galaxy S7 wearing an Otterbox Defender squeezed in nicely.
Articulation is a problem all-around: Each leg has only approximately 15 degrees of movement outward, and the clamping mechanism only rotates upward / outward in one direction. However, the bendy legs of the tripod can be argued into numerous positions in order to address uneven surfaces. Rotating the clamp causes it to unscrew from its tripod base, but it can be done. The clamp can be dogged into firm position by a plastic lever on the side of the tripod.
Before you consider not purchasing this tripod, keep in mind that it is indeed a cheap steal at just under $35.00. I wouldn't pay more than that for the quality of this product - kudos to Best Buy for giving consumers what they want at just about half the price.

This is a functional tripod. It does have limitations because of the small size. When a cell phone with a case and back device of some kind is installed, the case must be removed to allow it to be supported and secured on the phone clamp.
The tripod will tilt up and down, but will not rotate.
I used it to steady the phone to copy short videos from my computer so I could send them to my daughters via text. Worked well for that. I can see the tripod will be very helpful in improving the ability to perform selfies. Comes in handy when only two of you and you are on vacation.
There may be better tripods available, but, this one is functional though it could be better.

I am 79 and trust me, I was worried when I chose this item but it was the only alternative to let my grandchildren know who I am aside from spending $1500 air fair to Switzerland plus misc. expenses...
I took it out of the box, unfolded the legs, set the camera in, put it in picture mode, stood back, clicked the remote and off I was.....did a dance for the kids so they would laugh and then talked about what we were doing in Cleveland....buy it...can't go wrong

Better than a selfie stick for group photos

Needed something for holiday photos. I was going to buy a new selfie stick but realized that my phone does not have a headphone jack anymore. One of the BB guys recommended this and I was a little skeptical at first. We used it for Thanksgiving and it was a great product that I recommend if you have a high enough chair or counter to put on. The only thing I wish were the holder some how would grip beyond the power buttons and volume buttons and that it could expand and collapse so we wouldn't have to use a chair to take photos with. Overall, great product!

The package indicated it would hold an iPhone 7 Plus (up to 5.5 inches) and its blue tooth push button that would allow me to set the phone at a distance from me and both open and close my video with that button.
The tripod did not "hold" my phone. Its jaws did not open to permit the phone to be held. It could only be balanced on the tripod.
The blue tooth button was of short duration. When I recorded my fifteen minute video I could not stop the recording with the button. I had to reach forward and turn it off directly.
Not what I wanted.

Bought this to stream a wedding for some out of town relatives who could not make it. Used the flexible legs to clamp it onto the front row and attached my iPhone 8 Plus. It fit perfectly with an Otterbox case but not much room for a bigger phone (if they make one bigger) or small tablet. Legs are flexible enough and rubber feet help it grip a little better. Hinge tightens enough to tilt it however you want. I can't tell if the head is meant to pan so it's best to get your shot when you set the legs. All in all, it's good for the price, gets the job done at a basic level.

Does the job, but few drawbacks

I bought this for the recent total solar eclipse. It did the job, but there were a few issues: The clamps that hold the cell phone can push buttons on the side causing all sorts of problems, they also can block access to the back of the phone display, and setting up with these issues can cause the tripod to be way off balance; however, the legs are flexible, so you can compensate to some degree. Another drawback is that the legs don't extend, what you see is what you get in height. I didn't mess with the blue tooth remote control, which is probably an unnecessary expense to the product, making the basic function a bit overpriced.

Very cool product, good price. I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 11.x. The Bluetooth shutter paired immediately no problem; it can be used to snap a picture, but also to start / stop video. The flexible yet sturdy legs are adjustable for use on uneven surfaces, and fold relatively flat to put into backpack, luggage, etc. It holds my iPhone tightly.
Negative: I wish you could adjust it to portrait mode, but it can only stay in landscape.
SO, I can finally go on vacation or a road trip with my kids, and be in the picture.
