I/O Gear Wireless HD Digital Kit

I had a problem, I needed to get my Cable signal into my living room where my wife wanted to be able to watch TV. This is her preferred place because of the comfortable leather couch and Harmon wood pellet stove. You know what they say about a happy wife! I really didn't want to have to crawl around in the attic running a new cable connection and I did not want to have to rip into my newly painted walls either! I also wanted to stop connecting up the 50' HDMI cable that we had been using (and tripping over). I did a little research and found this I/O Gear unit on Best Buy's website that looked like it was going to do everything I needed. I ordered it as a Christmas gift for my wife. When it arrived it took me all of about 10 minutes to read the instructions (yes, I did read the instructions) and it took about 5 minutes to set it up! It worked like a charm, started up first thing! I could not believe how great it was working and how easy it was to set up! I even tried different channels with different broadcast capabilities (1080 etc) and the unit adjusted automatically! I can't believe I never thought to do this before. I would recommend this to anyone looking to share their main cable signal ( or any signal) to a TV in a separate room. Forgot to mention that I initially tried this from the cable box in my bedroom (it was easier to test it from there) and the signal worked great, a distance of over 40 feet with several walls containing pipes and wiring all of which appeared to have no detrimental affect on the wireless signal.

I’m using it for a projector setup that is about 16 feet away in direct line of site. The connections are simple. It automatically detects signal and turns on when the display and source (Blu-ray) are on. The transmitter and receiver appears to sync fine. The light on both boxes are solid blue. Watching regular 1080p signal is quite good. There is no noticeable lag. The projector has no speakers so I do not know if any sound is also wirelessly transmitted. The hdmi out to the receiver does have a signal through it. So there is a wireless hdmi signal to the projector as well as simultaneous sound through to the receiver. Things change with a 3D signal. At first I could not get any 3D signal to transmit to the projector. I tried to turn everything off and restart the system several times thinking it might be an hdmi syncing issue. Nothing worked. I exchanged for another unit at the store thinking I had a bad device the first time. This second unit again worked great on regular 1080p material but when I put in a 3D disc, this time it did transmit a 3D signal but the picture would drop out for a second or two at a time every 5 to 10 minutes, effectively making it horrible to watch any 3D sources. Bottom line is it functions great on regular 1080p but questionable in regards to 3D material. If you don’t intend on watching 3D bluray then this product is fine. Otherwise it can be a hit or miss for more frequent 3D watchers.

I originally tried the Monoprice wireless HDMI transmitter kit. It worked fine for about 4 different uses (in 2 weeks). In a panic, I needed this solution for a BBQ I was hosting. I went to my local Best Buy and was pleased to find this IOGEAR set. It has worked great! Simply follow the short list of directions and you'll be on your way. I am using it from my master bedroom (transmitter) to the outside patio (receiver). I've mounted a TV out there and can basically use the cable from my bedroom to entertain folks outside. This works great because no one is ever really in bed while we're entertaining. I'm syncing through a stucco wall, but only 6 ft distance. I have also tested from a 30 ft open distance. My options for my solution were drill through stucco and fish HDMI through outside wall or use a clean (and little pricy) solution like wireless HDMI. The best thing about going this route is easy clean up and you can move it all over the house whenever your situation changes. Monoprice's problem was the software was weak, I believe I encountered a bug that ruined the whole kit. IOGEAR's kit is just solid works with no need to interact with the software. I understand everyone encounters their own problems or successes based off the kit they buy and the way their home is laid out or made. But give this kit a try! Highly recommended from a gadget nerd!

I purchased this wireless HDMI in order to add a TV closer to the Dining Room/Kitchen.. Prior, my security system DVR was hooked to a TV in the rear hallway... Lots of times, I had to go all the way back there to see what was going on outside...Maybe someone rang the doorbell or my secondary security system (2 Chihuahuas) went off... My home has vaulted ceilings with no crawl space in the attic. I decided to wall mount a TV without having to run a HDMI cable...That is where the IOGEAR wireless transmitter and receiver came into play...I was able to place the transmitter near the Security DVR and connect the local HDMI cable to the Monitor that had aways been there. The Receiver picked up the wireless signal and displayed the security cameras on the New TV I installed in the front part of the house... It has worked flawlessly since I installed it and I am very pleased with the ease of installation.. The total distance from the transmitter to the receiver is only about 30 feet, but the signal also passes through 3 standard walls ( 2x4 lumber and gypsum)... Performs exactly as advertised...

I purchased the transmitter/receiver in August and after reading some of the other reviews, I decided I would use it for a few months before writing my own review. Well, I couldn't be happier. I bought a condo that for some reason doesn't have cable connections in the bedroom, and no option to have one installed. I like watching TV in bed before I go to sleep, so this was unacceptable. The wireless transmitter/receiver solved the problem nicely - I am not very technical but it only took me about 10-15 minutes to get it set up and it has worked great right from the start. The transmitter and the receiver are in opposite corners of the house with a wall, and a laundry room and furnace in between the two. The only issue I've had is that occasionally, the bedroom TV (the "receiving" TV) will have sound, but no picture. I don't know why this happens, but a "reboot" -- turning the TV off and back on -- has restored the picture every time. And the picture is much better than I expected from some of the reviews I read here. One of my neighbors who has the same floor plan and the same "no cable in the bedroom" issue as I have, purchased one after he saw how great mine worked, and he is just as pleased with his.

Use the included USB Power Supply.

I bought this at Best Buy for their better return policy. I almost had to return it. I finally narrowed down where the problem was. I have a Dish Super Joey that goes into the transmitter. I have about 10' of hall and then a right turn into an open 10' room followed by a left turn of about 6' against the wall where the receiver sits. The receiver goes into a Sony sound bar and from there to a Vizio TV via HDMI (ARC). At first for a nice clean wiring, I used the included USB cable to power the receiver from the TV. It worked some of the time. Then I wanted to move the receiver, so I used a different USB power supply. That made things much worse. I replaced that with a 1.5 Amp USB supply and that improved things again. After 3 days, I decided that it just wasn't stable enough. Then it hit me! The box has a USB power supply in it that is an ugly wall wort. Maybe I should actually use it! I plugged it in and within 10-20 seconds it was in sync and playing on the TV. It continues to sync quickly after turning the TV off and on. The moral of this story is that the power going to the receiver MUST have enough amps to not only power the receiver, but to make it work right.

bad connection even worse Iogear support

this is my second iogear wireless connection. first one worked for five years then stopped working. Not too bad, not great. second one worked for a few months then stopped connecting. not good. tried iogear support. they seem to be setup to stakll and delay. for a technical company their web support is worse I have ever seen. their agent stalled fisrt by asking questions through website in a few days without sending email. When I found his questions by accident and answered he indicated they would replace item. A week later with no replacement I again raised the issue although web site listed it as closed. (It was listed as closed after every time he responded even though i still had no connection.) He then indicated he woudl send me return mail address. I would have to pay for shipping. A week later no return address still.I tried their chat line and wait was over 20 minutes. tried their phone connection through web site and got connected to chat with wait.

This a great solution to bulky media components and countless wires. I can't believe this isn't a standard in home media at this point. I was skeptical at first especial in terms of the quality of the picture it would transmit but overall I am extremely pleased with its performance. Although, more ports would be nice which is a option (of course at almost twice the price). I haven't had any disconnection issue that weren't easily resolved by a simple power cycle. However you do need to be mindful of where you place the transmitter and receiver, you may receive interference from the tv itself if place to close or behind. I use mine for an apple TV and PS4 and haven't notice any issues with either. Since it is wireless though its prone to not always peak performance much like wifi. Which brings me to the router issue. While I did have issues with my router and it battling against each other it was resolved by moving the transmitter and router to difference locations. Only thing I would suggest is if you are looking to use more than two HDMI devices is to consider the 5x2 matrix for the extra money.
