Ion Audio - Tailgater Bluetooth Speaker System for Apple® iPod® touch, iPad® and iPhone®

I purchased this speaker for football tailgating after seeing one in use the year before. When it works, it really is an ideal speaker for tailgating as it can get plenty loud for outdoor settings. The type of battery used in this speaker is akin to a car battery which is nice because it provides long life. However this type of battery needs to be periodically charged to continue functioning. These speakers ship fully connected and "ready to use" but that brings a risk that certain units (mine included) will ship with a battery that is already dead and cannot be charged. The fix is easy--get a new battery. ION is aware of the issue and will send you a new battery under warranty...but they have told me the wait time is 2-3 months---not ideal when I purchased the speaker for college football games a week before the season started. Of course, you can purchase these batteries at stores as well but they will likely run you an additional $35-40. Moral of the story: It is a nice speaker but be aware that you might not be able to use it without purchasing a new battery or waiting 3 months for ION to send you a replacement..

I've used this speaker system several times this summer. Great to take to softball games/practices or to swimming holes by the creek. Compatible with all devices I've tried- iPhone, iPod, motorola droid... Battery lasts a long time, I've only charged it once. It is a bit bulky and the handle placement only allows you to carry just the speaker- not a one arm job. Not only good for listening to music, but comes with a microphone-get a karaoke app and you're set.

Overall great product have used it half dozen tines and it has been awesome. Look forward to many more good times with friends listening to tunes outside at tailgates, patio parties, camping and many more.

first thing, like many buyers before me,(from the reviews I read), my unit also came with a bad battery. When I received it, i turned it on and only had 1 green light out of 3. I plugged it in to charge over night. The next morning I had 3 green lights(full charge). I took it outside to use it with my ipod nano and after about an hour, it died. I figured I too received a unit with a bad battery. So without really messing with it, I ordered a new battery from a website left by another reviewer called Expert Power. The battery cost $13 and change plus shipping. Once I received the battery, (which was quick), I very easily replaced the old one and i've been rocking with this little thing ever since. this little box can rock! it sounds great for it's size. It's no BOSE speaker mind you, but for what your paying for this little bad boy, it sounds awesome. It gets pretty loud! can't crank the volume all the way or it will distort. but it gets plenty loud where everyone at a barbeque or even a pool party can hear it no problem! and it's very well made. very solid. and the battery that i replace it with last about 40 hours on a single charge. i have no problems with the bluetooth connectivity to my nano or my android phone. I rarely use the FM radio that's built in, but when i do use it, it works fine. For what it cost, I'd buy another one. Even if the chances are 50/50 that I'll be getting another one with a bad battery.

small and cute does not produce mush bass if you need bass go for the bigger tailgater
