Useful, but Clumsy Form Factor Limits it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I got this on Christmas Eve on the same last-minute out-of-town shopping trip that I got the Bose Revolve+ II Bluetooth Speaker, because I needed some way to connect my non-USB-C peripherals to a USB-C port on my recently-purchased M1 MacBook Pro. It's designed by j5create to be used with a laptop, as the slight upward slant is meant to provide airflow under the laptop and provide passive cooling - and if I'd ordered a 15.6" laptop, and didn't already have an active fan laptop cooler, maybe that would've worked. As it is, though, it's a bit clumsy for my purposes.... It's also more for gamers or people who work with multiple monitors, which I do not, having not one but TWO 30 Hz at 4K (60 Hz at 1080p) HDMI ports, one DisplayPort with the same specs, and a VGA port for those of us who check into hotels with older digital televisions or are stuck at Mom's house where she's been using the same CRT monitor she bought back in the 1990s! For those of us a bit more up-to-date there's also a three USB 3.0 Type A ports, a USB-C output port and a second USB-C port that can handle a charger of up to 100 watts for running your laptop and peripherals; SD and MicroSD card readers...oh, and a RJ-45 Ethernet jack because most laptops don't bother with them any more! It's an extremely capable dock, if only its form factor wasn't so clunky....

Decent Docking Station, But Odd Design
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. The docking station has enough input options for me to set up my work from home desk station, which is exactly what I was looking for. I think the long rectangular shape is a bit odd though. Because the power input to plug into your laptop is on the right side, you may have to toss and turn it depending on how many laptops you want to use it for and what sides the input would need to go on. I wish the cord would be in the middle and be a bit longer so my workstation could be the same for both my work laptop and PC.

Docking Station, multiple ports!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I have purchased two of these docking stations for two new laptops that have limited ports. Now I have access to use two monitors, cd reader, backup hard drive, memory slots without having to unplug anything. These work great and are reasonably priced.

Great Docking station
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Works great for three external monitors. The drivers installed automatically and with zero issues. The USB-C cable has a built in tray and is long enough you can route it out either side and the laptop doesn't have to sit directly on top of it.

Nice, But Beware!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This is a nice device, but we bought it to go with a Samsung - Galaxy Book Pro 360 and when the laptop is placed on top it completely seals the (already minimal) vent on the bottom of the laptop!

Q: QuestionIs power supply in the package with this docking station?
Asked by Yu.
- A:Answer There are two different models and one has the power supply included and the other does not. The JCD543 does not have the charger/power supply and the JCD543P does include the power adapter. ** Feel free to contact the Technical Support team mentioned on the packaging for further assistance or if you have any other questions and someone will be glad to assist you.

Q: QuestionWill this dock work with the Surface Pro 6?
Asked by jackslot34.
- A:Answer In my experience, this dock just simply doesn't work - doesn't matter what computer you use. Theoretically, though, it would work with any device that has a USB-c. If I may, I'd recommend spending a little more now to get a device from a company you trust - I wish I had done so myself. I'll be buying either a Targus or Belkin product from BestBuy to replace my unusable j5create dock

Q: QuestionDoes this unit require a power supply? I see there is a power in port.
Asked by boatname.
- A:Answer Yes it requires a USB type-c power supply. I bought this for my mac therefore the laptop power supply goes into the dock and the dock into the laptop and everything is then happy and powered!

Q: QuestionMy new j5create docking station does not seem to work. I have plugged it into the usb port on my PC and then plugged my bluetooth mouse usb into it but the mouse does not work. Does the docking station require a powercord? It was not included.
Asked by Diane.
- A:Answer The j5 Docking Station DOES require a power source. But you can get it to work. J5 sells 2 versions with almost identical model number. The one with P at the end includes a power cord. This is not the model sold by Best Buy. Was very frustrating for me as well. I couldn't figure out problem with documentation included. Finally realized the problem when a fully charged MacBook Pro 2 plugged into docking station started running out of juice. Once I took the USB-C power cord for MBP2 and plugged it into back of j5 docking station it worked perfectly. Plug the power cord for laptop into j5 docking station (far left USB-C port on the back) and then use the j5 USB-C connector cable (the one under flap on front side) to connect docking to laptop. Besides working as docking station will also allow power to pass through and charge laptop. Hope this helps. Wish j5 made this a little more clear with the product because it works very well at what it does, once it has power. Go figure.

Q: QuestionWill I be able to use this to connect 2 HDMI monitors to the new 16" macbook pro, and have the display extend across all 3 monitors?
Asked by Lew.
- A:Answer I was able to with my new MacBook Air. I had to adjust the settings under monitors to recording but works great now. I found a video on YouTube J5Create channel that explains where this is located. Also there is an app on the App Store I found after the fact to install ScreenWave. Here are the links that helped me. https://youtu.be/p25R8PTHvPA https://youtu.be/p25R8PTHvPA
