A: The button must be held down for it to function so you can just touch it to create a pulse.
A: No, the chopper does not blend for smoothies.
A: You need to rotate it until it locks in place otherwise it will not turn on. (may be a little hard to turn in the beginning). I had the same issue and i called the manufacturer who sent me a replacement chopper and i had to return the original one. Later i figured out that you need to rotate the bowl until it clicks in place and then it turns on.
Q: Does this food processor grind nuts and spices?
A: I don't think so. This is good for vegetables. For nuts and spices you may use Nutri bullet or a Ninja.
