2 & Half Stars:There are better Cam/phone choicesPosted .
Purchased this EKTAR as "back up" phone/camera. 1st of all, the KODAK brand raises high expectations for camera ability. As a phone, I have no use beyond casual internet browsing/ email usage. I have only downloaded 6 apps to phone. The 32GB capacity (about 20gb is decent). I'm not into blogging nor social media, so my needs for the phone aspect were more than met. Everything runs OK for non current android MARSHMALLOW. Bullit makes this Kodak Ektra phone (hmmmm sounds like the great "EKTAR" films). Camera wise this phone is at best average (good light conditions) and mediocre at times (indoor flash, dark conditions). Phone was immediately upgraded to v2.010.00a for camera performance improvements but issues remain. white balance is a problem, when recomposing a shot and several images are taken, it throws off balance and gives odd color results. Shutter lag is a problem when using the dedicated side shutter button, avoid it and use the on screen shutter release. In low light conditions strange color banding, fringing, reminiscent of 3rd party cameras is evident (see attached photo). my MOTO g5 plus takes better low light images with its lesser 12MP lens. The optical OIS is great to have but also yields mixed results. the LCD display pumps up the color saturation, when images are uploaded to computer, Adobe PS; color saturation is different. Flash photography is mediocre even with dual LED flash system. The sony provided 21MP sensor needs better firmware to lift this phone to decent camera purpose. As it stands the phone does not live up to the KODAK reputation for quality. This EKTRA is not worth the full retail price, I would have never considered it at the price point. (I purchased for about "fifty" dLs) At that price it is OK, but there are better phone "camera" choices. PS: good luck finding a protective coverNo, I would not recommend this to a friend

So far so goodPosted .
Just ordered this phone because my old phone just stopped working. It arrived before expected delivery date and so far so good. I'm not a big electronics person but it does what it's supposed to do. Battery life is good and the camera takes great pictures. I'm the queen of budget phones and this is no budget phone. The only con is not being able to find a phone case but that's cool they have screen protectors and pouches for the phone though.I would recommend this to a friend

Very good mid-level phonePosted .
This phone is not for everyone. It looks more like a pocket camera than a phone. I can only count a few minuses: missing fingerprint reader, average battery, hard to find phone cases, and still on Android 6.0.I would recommend this to a friend

Good, if you can get it on sale.Posted .
At under a hundred dollars, this was a good buy for an unlocked phone. The MediaTek processor does ok for a budget phone. The camera is fine for a budget phone. The RAM is great for a budget phone. So basically, what this all sums up to is that this is a good choice for a budget phone. It's not a high end phone, and it is certainly not worth the regular price tag on it. The camera doesn't measure up to the cameras on the current high end phones, but it is acceptable for the price range and easy to use with a dedicated shutter button. For a hundred bucks it handles everything at or above expectations for phones in that class. It does feel a little weird in the hand because of the hybrid camera/phone design, but it has a lanyard strap. I bought this for my grade school son who has been asking for a camera and who has several educational apps that he runs on it. It works well for him, and is much easier for him to use than the camera on my phone. When he gets a little older, we will probably add a prepaid SIM.I would recommend this to a friend

Great for the pricePosted .
I purchased this phone for my grandma. It had everything I wanted to give her USB C (for continuity with other devices), Decent Camera and big screen. She came from a budget windows phone and at 100$ there was no reason to not give this a shot. She has not complained at all about the phone since she has received it. As far as the camera is concerned, it could be better. Any flagship (Pixel, iPhone X, S8) would put this quality to shame. It's good with good lighting but in the dark it suffers mightily. I figured it was good enough for her and a huge upgrade over what she had before. It is really big and hard to find cases for which is a big con, I would like her to have a case for the phone. It being unlocked is a big plus, we Don't even have Cricket so on ATT this phone works great.I would recommend this to a friend

Nice phone. Unlocked out of the box. Kodak brand.Posted .
I really wanted to like this phone. Unlocked right out of the box. Kodak brand known to have a long history in photography. But its performance just doesn't compete at the level of flagship phones from smartphone brands like Apple and Samsung. If you can get this phone at a good price, go for it. Otherwise, at full retail price it best to look elsewhere.I would recommend this to a friend

Get it on sale for a great dealPosted .
If you can get this phone on sale (preferably under 150) it is a great deal. For the specs at that price point it is great. (NFC and 3gigs of RAM, FHD screen and a good camera!) I bought this because it was cheap (on sale) and needed something to hold me over for another month or so but I might keep this one for a while. Coming from a 6" screen, I found the size nice to hold. A 5" screen is not something I would use as much for reading but I wanted something that fit easier in the pocket without the need to pull it out every time I sat down. It is thicker than most newer phones but not overly so, I still like the feel of it even if it is all plastic. To my non-expert eyes, the screen itself looks very good as far as resolution and color saturation. Reading reviews prior to purchase I was not expecting much from the camera but I was pleasantly surprised at the photos; snap a pic and run it through Snapseed and the results look pretty good. Other thoughts: -It has an audio enhancement called BesSurround, BesLoudness and BesAudEnh, which tweak the output some, not the best but better than nothing. -There's and option for adaptive brightness, though it doesn't seem to work (at least on my unit) -Runs a near vanilla android, which has both pros and cons to it -That hump at the bottom of the phone looks weird but adds to the effect of using a camera, some may not like it -Button placement is weird, it's my main gripe. The power button is not where I would ever expect/used before, it's too low and had to get a car mount that did not block it otherwise there is not way to turn on the screen when in the cradle (no double tap, no fingerprint). Overall I would say the phone is good if you can buy it on sale, at the regular price I would look elsewhere.I would recommend this to a friend

Q: QuestionSo if the * Phone will not work with Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile or any other CDMA network, why buy it? And what provider will it work with?
Asked by MsAngee.
- A:Answer As Listed in the Specifications: AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, TRACFONE, Net10, Simple Mobile, H2O Wireless (Basically All GSM Based Networks) CDMA is Owned by Qualcomm, In the US, Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular use CDMA. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. Most of the rest of the world uses GSM. The global spread of GSM came about because in 1987, Europe mandated the technology by law, and because GSM comes from an industry consortium. Unless you are contracted to a CDMA provider, GSM is the better direction.

Q: QuestionToo many different answers for this question! If my cell phone company is T-mobile, will this phone work if I put a Tmobile sim chip in it? Will this phone work on Tmobile network?
Asked by LoveCellEtc.
- A:Answer It should work with T Mobile since it is an unlocked GSM device. Before ordering one today I slipped both a Cricket and TracFone card in a friend's Ektra...both worked fine.

Q: QuestionIs there a cover for this phone?
Asked by Dana.
- A:Answer I've seen screen glass protection film but not aftermarket cases like otter or anything.. the super expensive leather cases aren't practical and the sliding leather just seems like it would be a nuisance.. unfortunately we must wait.

Q: QuestionMay I know if NFC available as I checked on other web which mentioned NFC is available but spec. here mentioned not? Thanks
Asked by JamDor.
- A:Answer NFC is part of the specs. You will have to go into the Settings to enable it (Settings>More>NFC). There is not a quick toggle available to quickly access it, nor an icon available to let you know it is active.
