this computer works well for me because I'm only using it for basic school stuff like office and power point, just a good basic computer

Screen is absolutely disgusting. If you look at a black or grey page you will see how awful the screen really is. Touchpad is worthless, your palms activate it as you type. It doesn't support software to disable touchpad when you are typing either. If you are planning to get this laptop and keep windows 8/7 on it, don't bother. It is unbearably slow. Your only chance is a lightweight linux distro, my reccomendation: Install Gentoo from source code on it.

I wanted a cheap laptop with a HDMI output to use on my HDTV. I purchased this Lenovo N585 refurbished, not expecting much. WOW was I surprised!! First, it got here so fast the package was smokin! It was packaged very well & appears to be brand new. No fingerprints or scratches & sealed in Lenovo plastic. It came with a brand new AC adapter. As with any Windows computer, the first 8 hours is downloading updates. It instantly connected to my WI-FI with no problems. I went through everything to make sure everything worked.It has a full keyboard with number pad. Webcam connected instantly, HDMI output is awesome on a HDTV. DVD drive works perfectly & speakers are loud & clear. High definition LED screen is very clear & bright. Windows 7 home is smooth & very user friendly. This is an awesome laptop. I am very pleased with the performance & condition. The price went from $217 to $187 one day after I bought it, which makes it an even better buy.

After reading some reviews about this laptop I decided to live my feed back. I purchased this laptop last year and I was introduced to the new Windows 8. Like most people I preferred Windows 7, but Windows 8 is here to stay so I took the tutorial it came with the computer and find out is not so terrible, in my opinion is the same with the extra step of the new tile window. (People just don't like changes, that's all) One think I did after the 1st day was put in an additional 4gb ram ($23), realistically, no computer work well with 2gb ram and now this laptop boot up in less then 15 seconds. No, I do not work for Best Buy but I think people is missing a very nice computer here. The only think I still having problems is the mouse pad. is so sensitive, every time my thumbs get to close to it, it change the line where I am typing and is annoying but I am sure there is a set up to change that, I just don't care so much. Don't let other comments to change your mind. I think this computer is great, economical and fast. I hope this help some one

We purchased this computer (new, not refurbished) as a Christmas gift for our young kids. The idea was for them to be able to watch DVDs, use websites like nick jr., Skype with their grandparents etc. Very, very basic stuff. As simple and basic as these tasks might be, they're made exceedingly difficult by this computer. Watching a DVD isn't as easy as putting the disk in, selecting the DVD player, and pressing play. Oh no, instead it's a multi-step, painfully counterintuitive exercise, with various windows opening and closing spontaneously, along with downloads requests, etc. Quite remarkable. And, the disc often doesn't even play before the Internet or some other random application opens up. Oh, and this is all after spending way too much time trying to figure out how to get the DVD drawer to even open. Lest you say our particualr computer just has a faulty DVD player, please know at all applications are a chore, so incredibly slow and counterintuitive. Clicking on an icon doesn't necessarily open that application, rather it might end up bringing the user to google or some Microsoft banner. I am by no means a computer illiterate either, but rather I consider myself quite adept at using them. But not this Lenovo. It is truly infuriating and poorly designed. Our children are perplexed and put off by it, which is of concern as we certainly don't want them to be discouraged to use computers. In summary, this Lenovo is not worth $5, let alone the asking price. We would return it in a second if that were an option (it isn't, as it was purchased before Xmas). Do yourself a favor and DON'T BUY IT.

Real trash, first off it is supposed to ship with Windows 7, that is why I bought it, it comes with the trash that is Windows 8. None of my Windows 7 programs work, the machine is beyond slow. Press the start button, walk to California and back and it's still booting up. Not worth my time and effort, back it goes

Bought this and was very anxious to receive it.........but it arrived with Windows 8 Installed. I returned it, and Best Buy, is still showing it as a Windows 7 Laptop.
