||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Long Review. TLDR at bottom) I went back and forth when it came to buying this laptop. What was pulling me in was the Ryzen 7 and the RTX 4050. I didn't care it came with only 8GB of RAM or only 500GB of storage in my case, as that is (and was) easily upgradeable. Pro tip for ANYONE buying or building for a Ryzen: Prioritize AS MUCH and AS FAST memory as you can buy, it makes all the more difference in performance. The other Laptop I was looking at in comparison to this, was a Gigabyte Laptop, with an RTX 4060, and an Intel i7-12650H. At the time, the Gigabyte was a bit more than this Lenovo, but only by around $50. It came with the same amount of storage, but more RAM. It had the same screen size, same refresh rate, and was quite similar to the Lenovo LOQ in many ways. However, from what I researched, the Ryzen 7 had an edge over the i7, and the Lenovo had other features the Gigabyte lacked (but also in some areas, vice versa). One big note for me was the majority of reviewers noted that the Gigabyte Laptop had a poorer build quality, a worse speaker, and a slightly less bright screen (by 50 nits). When the time came for me to buy, what sold me on the Lenovo was the price to performance. I got mine on sale via Best Buy for $750 ($795 with tax), and at the time, the price fluctuated so that the Gigabyte was around $80-$100 more. Considering this laptop (at least, at the time) was normally $1.1k, this was an absolute steal. And after using this thing for over a month consistently now, I do not regret my purchase one bit. This laptop was gotten primarily for school work but has also been used for Video Editing (via DaVinci Resolve), and some occasional gaming. You can crank the settings up to their max in most games I've played (Forza H4. Splitgate. Rocket League. But, I do prefer to play Fortnite on performance mode.) and achieve well over 144fps in almost any case (so as long as it is plugged in). From a colorist point of view, this screen is better than my daily desktop drivers' two (older) monitors, and it is pretty good for what you pay, but it's nothing perfect. To mention video editing one more time, this thing will EAT up footage great, I've had no issue editing and playing back things in real-time. The only real issue I've had with this laptop is possibly the battery life. If you cannot live with a battery that at MAX might make it 2 hours, I would either suggest you look elsewhere, try to guarantee you'll be near an outlet, or just carry around a huge portable 3 prong 170w backup battery. For me, even turning the screen down to 72hz, using integrated graphics (which is pretty good in comparison to things a few years ago), turning on low power mode, slightly lowering the brightness, turning off the keyboard backlight, and tuning a handful of other settings, I probably could only get just over 2 hours of plain use. It's not impressive on the margin of battery life by any means, but I suppose you can't blame it with the 4050 and Ryzen 7 inside it. For me, I will always usually be around or near an outlet, so I don't find this to be a humungous concern for now. But I know for some, battery life is a top priority, in which case, I can't say I believe you should rule this laptop out, as the performance still shines for me, but I'd keep what I said in mind when comparing. Overall, I am glad I bought this laptop, and I hope it serves me well throughout the years. I am quite a skeptical buyer when it comes to computers as I know my way around them. And it did take me a while to decide which one to buy, as this was not my first initial choice, nor on my initial radar, but I'd recommend it. Out of 10? I'd say at least an 8, maybe 8.5 TLDR Pros and Cons: Pros: Spectacular performance for the price (for me it was $795) Upgradability Backlit keyboard. Good keyboard for a laptop. Great thermal intake/outtake Fast and sturdy charging cable/brick (The plug is not a cylinder shape. Looks like a mix between HDMI, Display Port, and USB. Has a pin inside it though. 170W. Best Buy site says the max PSU wattage can be 230W, but I'm not sure.) Cons: Battery life (Max maybe just over 2-3 hrs in my case(s)). No SD card slot 5.3lbs might be on the heavier side for some Poor webcam quality (but what can you expect) Only 2 USB 3 ports w/1 USB 2.

Best budget laptop I have ever owned!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had the laptop for nearly a year now and everything works flawlessly! What really sold me was the price that I got it at around $700 after taxes. I really feel like this laptop is worth more than I purchased for it, at least with the holiday sale. The overall build is still phenomenal (not insanely flashy as other gaming laptops which I definitely prefer and was another selling point for me). I use the laptop mainly for school and editing with some light gaming on the side. When it comes to gaming, I was able to run most titles smoothly at max settings without any problems. The only complaint that I have is the battery duration being relatively average compared to other gaming laptops. You have to set it to 72 hz and dim the screen brightness to get it running at 6-7 hours+ at a full charge. Having it at 144hz, I was only able to get 1-2 hours (at maximum) in while under heavy load. Battery life in the long run is a different story as I managed to keep it above the full charge capacity even after almost a year without using any software's to tweak anything. All in all, I highly recommend it as a laptop and with a sale, it's literally a no brainer so just get it!!

||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.long review incoming so tldr; definitely 10000000% buy it BUT only on sale for it to be worth it (for a slightly longer tldr just read the very last section of this review) sorry if any of my tech terminology is incorrect, i'm not too too great at this stuff starting off by saying that i LOVE this laptop so much!! i got it for a little over $750 ($700 without tax) which i think is crazy considering its usual pre-tax price of $1100 and rtx 4050.. not complaining!! i've had it for about 5 months as of writing this review. i definitely recommend it for the majority of gamers (i don't think super high end people would be depending on just a laptop anyway) i've used a headset from the moment i got this so i can't say anything about the speakers. i very very rarely use this laptop while not on charge so i can't say much about that but it does seem to lose charge fairly quicky (which is 100% expected while running on ryzen 7 and an rtx 4050) - not an issue for me at all and veeery common among gaming laptops (obviously the display is way better while on charge though, but it's by no means bad when not, just okay) i do some pretty demanding gaming; this laptop handles triple A games at maxed graphics like a champ, always running at a stable 60 fps (could definitely go up to 144 with no problem, i just don't care much for beyond 60, so why strain my laptop like that?), and the overall display looks beautiful!! i almost always am on a discord vc and/or have chrome open with 10+ tabs too if that adds anything this laptop also very easily passes as professional (almost to a boring degree), so you don't have to worry about taking it to work/school (sorry to those of you who prefer more flashy tech lol - i just covered mine in stickers to make it cooler!) for the price point i don't think the lesser ram/ssd is bad at all, and that can always be added to/replaced anyway (it's not like you could ask for more in a laptop at the price i got it for, and tbh i don't think it's all that necessary) all that praise being said... i have had some blue screen and freezing issues. more than i should for a laptop this new anyway. about 6 times total within the last 4 months, this laptop has randomly either blue screened or froze completely until manually shut down. when i say randomly i mean it - sometimes i had been gaming for hours and sometimes i had only been on youtube or doing something for work (literally just typing on google docs or the like), so i don't think it's an issue of capability. i really have no clue what causes this. fortunately nothing bad has ever happened after (turns on again okay, all files intact and such) though honestly, this is more annoying than anything, and i don't care too much. i'm willing to look past it mostly because of the price i got this at (and luckily this has yet to happen in a game i haven't saved in - also it's been happening way less than it did during the first two months i've had this? idk lol, again not complaining) this laptop did come with a free 1 year warranty with lenovo (NOT best buy)!! i got that at least, i assume everyone else does? you easily could use that to get something this fixed or replaced but i really just don't care enough (having to ship this and get it shipped back and all that is just too much of a hassle for me, especially considering i need a laptop for work so can't really go without one for a few weeks) also, very minor complaint, it sometimes takes a bit to start up, like a minute or two, which honestly i couldn't care about in the slightest haha i wish i could rate this 4.5 stars instead of 4, or even higher than that, but i just can't give it a 5. i 1000000% recommend this if you can get it at the price that i did, so look out for sales!! i got this pre-owned (maybe that explains the problems? idk) on a random unnamed sale in september, so always keep an eye out outside of holidays. good luck everyone! happy gaming :)

Great Gaming Laptop for the money
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop on sale for less than 800 dollars and I've been very happy with it. I've been able to play almost anything you could think of with very high or maximum graphics settings enabled. It is rare for me to hear the fans running because they are efficient enough that the laptop never gets hot. The lid opens straight up with one hand and there are thick rubber mounts on the bottom of the laptop that feel like they'll last awhile. I upgraded the RAM to 32GB, but even without that it was handling most applications fine on their own. The only problems I've had with the laptop have been solved by updating the drivers from Lenovo's website, mostly the BIOS, ( Which before the update, would sometimes hang my laptop on a black screen when I tried to boot it ) and the USB-C port. The USB-C is generally ok, but is very finicky with your cable connection and has a tendency to bug out and lag file explorer if it can't connect to a device properly. I've noticed it seem buggier after certain windows updates but get better after another. For my games, I used the Geforce experience app to update the graphics card drivers and have had no issues at all. The battery is good for a few hours unplugged if you are using non-gaming apps. The function keys are convenient, and the trackpad is reliable. The size is a little bit weird, though. The two fan-ports on the back of the laptop stick out, so it fits a 16" laptop sleeve better than a 15.6". I use a controller to game so I can't comment very much on whether or not the keyboard layout is comfortable for long play sessions, but it's felt good to type on. I haven't used the camera a lot either, but I did test it out and it seemed a little bit finicky, as in, the camera feed would cut in and out a little bit until I was done adjusting the screen. The mic pickup is good enough to record a video but won't pick up in games or on Steam. In short, I'd buy this laptop again. If you have the chance to get it at the same price I think it's worth it. I hope it will last me a few years at the least and help me take classes online. It gets a lot of compliments and hasn't failed me yet.

Gamin’ overview & Black Screen on Boot 1st attempt
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1st of all got this for the holiday deal of 699.99. So, thought it seem fairly okay spced for that price range. Also, wanted a laptop that could handle my light to medium gaming needs. I play dota and D4.. out of the box couldn’t handle either. I tried playing dota 1st as it has the lesser requirements. Playing at maxed out setting I would get occasional lag spikes, I did have DC on but still expected more. Next I tried playing D4 no DC on. I lagged out sooo many times on both medium and high settings. That it was “unplayable” but sure was a hassle. Anyway, I upgraded to 32g 4800htz Corsair Veg. ram (cuz it was cheaper then 5600), which solved the lag issues for both. Can now run Ultra settings on D4 too. After looking just with dota and DC I need around 15g of ram. So, moral of the story is 8g ram is most likely worth for your gaming needs. However, seems to be running fine with the upgrade. Other issue: Before the ram upgrade I would turn on the laptop and it wouldn’t start but then black screen anyone else having this issue? I haven’t noticed it doing it since I changed ram but only 2 days in will update if it returns.

Good laptop with meh battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop runs well and does what I need it to do. It would have been nice if it had more RAM, but that can be replaced easily. Its battery lasts about 3 hours, but as it is a gaming laptop that is to be expected. If you are not planning on being near a power outlet most of the time, you may want to consider a lower-power laptop.

Q: QuestionIs this laptop model RAM upgradable to 32GB Does it have ram slot for upgrades or it comes soldered?
Asked by Phoson.
- A:Answer I just updated mine to 32GB. I ordered two of the "Vengeance 16GB (1PK 16GB) 4800MHz DDR5 C40 SODIMM Laptop Memory - Black" from Best Buy @ $39.99 per stick. The Best Buy model number is CMSX16GX5M1A4800C40. Just make sure you are using DDR5 SODIMM with a speed of at least 4800MHz. There are only 2 DDR5 SODIMM memory slots in the Laptop.
Answered by RonCarrigan
Q: QuestionHow many m.2 slots are there? Is ram removable? What is the display brightness?
Asked by Geb.
- A:Answer Allow me to answer these questions in the order in which they were asked... *Ehem* 1. There are 2 m.2 slots. 2. RAM is removable thus it is upgradeable to 32GB of 5600Mhz RAM. 3. Display reaches a peak brightness of 350 Nits. That'll be $300, thank you. jkjk

Q: Questioncan I upgrade the 512gb SSD to 1tb SSD. I also know that I i can upgrade the ram to 32gb but i have seen reviews on different websites that people have achieved to put in 64gb, does that affect the laptop negativity.
Asked by unknown.
- A:Answer You can upgrade the 512GB SSD to a larger one but the size is a 2242, not 2280 so it will be more expensive. However there is a 2nd NVME slot that is 2280 size that is empty so you could put a normal size ssd in that slot. You can put 64GB of ram in it even though the specs say max 32GB. For normal use and gaming, the difference in performance between 32GB and 64GB isn't worth the price difference. However, if you want to do 3d modeling or 4k video editing, then getting 64GB would be beneficial.

Q: QuestionWhat is the cooling system ? Is the fan sound noticable? What is the max size of ram and ssd storage? Should i replace the ssd to increase it or there is an empty slot for it? Is the ram removable or in the motherboard
Asked by Gawad.
- A:Answer Hello, Gawad. This model features a 12V, high speed, dual-fan cooling system with four heat pipes and large air intake and outlet vents. The system should be fairly quiet, even when gaming, however if the CPU temperature starts to climb, it is common for the fan noise to become louder. Regarding the RAM and storage upgradability and expansion – this model features two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots that will accommodate up to 32GB DDR5-5600 (removable, not soldered), and there are two M.2 storage slots, one M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and one M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, both up to 1TB.

Q: QuestionIt's early and only one review as I write this. To the author of that one-star review that complains of only 8 GB memory on this model, I say, buy the Model: 82XT0002US SKU: 6548031 instead for an extra $140 - it has 16 GB. Or buy this, add your own mem.
Asked by AMDFan.
- A:Answer Buy this, it’s only a few screws to upgrade and 60$ for 32gb of ram

Q: QuestionHi, I recently bought this laptop and I would like to know if I can take off the 8GB Ram 5600mhz that comes with this machine and install a 16GB Ram stick 4800mhz instead. Also, Can I install 2 16GB RAM Sticks 4800mhz later?
Asked by DiegoSimbana.
- A:Answer I believe the 8gb stick can be removed and replaced with a 16gb if you wish. I was thinking of doing a swap out of the 8gb for 2 16gb 5600 sticks too but later decided to just add a 24gb 5600 stick to the mix to max out the 32gb capacity. My daughter feels the laptop runs smoothly so I doubt you'd have any trouble with dropping the 8gb stick in order to add more RAM capacity. I don't know though how your performance may change if you downgrade the speed of the sticks to 4800
