Q: can the door be configured to swing either way?
A: Front loading washer can never have their doors reversed. Only the dryers can have their doors reversed.
Q: Can you add garments after starting the cycle?
A: Yes, there is a "pause" button that stops the tub, lets the water settle to the bottom, and unlocks the door so that you can add items.
A: Yes to the first question about the additional washing pedestal. They are sold separate. I have both, and they are great. As far as the mildew is concerned you can run a monthly empty load with bleach or purchase the washing tub cleaning tablets. I also leave both of my washers open after I am done with my laundry for the week so they can dry naturally before I close them up again. It usually just takes overnight to dry out.
Q: Can we use pods for this washer
A: Yes you can use pods however will have to throw in with the clothes as the soap dispenser does not completely dissolve the pod.
Q: What is the average wash time for an average load
A: The time is slightly different every time depending on how much stuff you have in there. I can tell you for me it is a bout 50 minutes but we are a family of 6 they are usually full loads. It is much faster than our last wash machine a Samsung.
